IMR 4350 (180gr) Varget (155 gr)
I have three 300 WSMs. I run two with IMR 4350 and 180 gr Barnes TTX. They have barrels that are 20" and 26". I use 66.0 gr with a winchester magnum primer and it performs flawlessly. The 20" gets 2890 fps and the 26" gets 3080 fps. The 20" is built on a short action, so I had to seat the bullets very deep to make them run out of the magazine, this created a compressed load. The 26" is on a long action, so the seating point has the base of the boat tail at the junction of the neck and shoulder in the case. My third is based on a short action and a 15 twist barrel. I run two bullets out of this, 125 gr Nosler BT and a 155 gr Sierra Palma. The 125 gets 66 gr of Varget for a speed of 3700 fps and the 155 gets 61 gr for a speed of 3240 fps. This is what I am competing with this year for a f-open rifle. It was originally built for gophers but has become useful on paper. I truly enjoy this case and think that there are many uses for it, have fun. Don.
