Help a newbie decide! P226 elite or CZ 75 tac sport

Srt shortens reset only. Combat sights come on Sigs, your absolutely right, poa covers bull. You can add srt to any Sig, different elite models come with different features(sights, grips, etc.). I believe most elites come with tails and srt, but not all, don't quote me.

Bingo. Same long pre-travel as the stock trigger.

As for the sight, yeah, typical of Sig fixed factory sights to shoot low. They do have higher/lower rear and front sights to adjust your POI to your ammo. The other option is to get adjustable rear sights. I'm not sure if this is for all models that come with factory adjustable sights but the groove for the sight is different to one that came with a fixed rear sight. Such is the case with my Elite Dark. I was going to mount a mini RDS for S&G but the mounting kit doesn't work with it.

From Sig's FAQ:

"All SIG SAUER production duty/combat pistols are set up to use a "combat" sight picture. This is where the front sight completely covers the bulls eye of the target. Using a six o'clock ("pumpkin on a post") or center mass ("half'n'half") sight picture will result in low impact. SIG SAUER, Inc sights in all non-sporting and non-target pistols for 2.5 inch groupings @ 15 yards. If you are still having trouble please contact Customer Service for further help and instruction. Please have your serial number ready. There are also very helpful free Internet sites that cover pistol group analysis. "

Many thanks so SRT still has the long trigger then.. covering the bull is not want I'm used to so would look for another sight or changing the rear..

Just to clarify srt is short reset trigger, there is also a short trigger Sig offers. Short trigger is actually a thinner trigger, as pictured in my P226 above.

Still drinkin'

CZ SP-01 Shadow is the best choice for you.

Tactical Sport is a big gun, unless you have very large hands, you might not enjoy it.

P226 is a great gun, but it is service pistol and different animal than above mentioned CZ pistols, which are very accurate target pistols.

You will end up owning both, CZ and SIG... so don't fret over it too much.

give it a few weeks and I'll have a tactical sport you can come shoot at the abby range if you want. I have a sig too but its a 229 in 9mm so not really the same thing as what you are looking at lol

Hey guys and gals, I'm new to handguns and don't want to cheap out on a 'learner' to be upgraded within a year. Like when I got my class 6, I went straight to a litre bike.

The local shops for me carry neither the p226 nor the cz tac sport, so I can't really make an educated first hand decision other than watching endless YouTube videos.

Please only reply if you have experience with either or both, or if you have another high end shooter to take into consideration. My decision will mostly revolve around reliability and accuracy, no glocks, steel all the way. Price point around $800-1500.

And if anyone has shot .357 Sig, tell me about it!

I own both so here goes.

P226 Enhanced Elite 9mm. Reliability, 3500 rounds no failures of any kind. Point gun pull trigger bullet goes where you are aiming every time. Super easy to strip and clean although it will run for a LONG time without cleaning. Accurate. The gun will easily shoot 2" groups at 10 yards with pretty much anything you feed it. Trigger takes about 500 rounds to fully settle down and it does take time to get used to the Sig Trigger. All in all this would be my SHTF gun.

CZ 75 TS 40 S&W. Amazing accuracy. Easily shoots 1 1/2" groups at 15 yards. Excellent trigger, very light but will take a fair bit to get used to as it is so light. Big heavy gun so it requires more arm strength that most guns. My hands are size large and a smaller hand will have trouble with the grip size. Fits me perfectly with full hands. You can get thinner grips but it will never suit small hands. Mine is a bit prone to FTF when using lighter target loads. Works really well with full power loads. You need a fair amount of arm strength to shoot it a lot in a session. It is a big heavy gun. Advantage of the heavy gun is the recoil is mild for a 40. If you can't shoot straight with this gun you can't shoot straight with anything. Hate the stupid Canadian magazines with the plastic extender and they are hard on your hands especially when new. They have sharp edges.

I really like both of them but they are quite different. The P226 is more of a combat gun while the TS is oriented to fast paced target shooting. Double taps and rapid fire are very easy with the TS not that they are a problem with the 226 but the TS is designed for this sort of shooting. I sure wouldn't want to carry the TS though.

My other handguns include a Ruger 1911 and several Ruger revolvers.

The TS has one of the best triggers from the factory and accuracy is very good. The grip is easily manageable even with small hands if you buy the thin grips. You can compete and do well with this gun right out of the box. Get it!

Why is everybody talking about the Shadow?
The shadow is a great gun, and devotedly in the same class as the SIG 226.

The Tactical Sport however is way above the SIG and the Shadow. It's an
amazing gun, extremely accurate and a gret deal at the price they are sold today.
I own one in 40S&W, and it's my most accurate handgun.

I'd go with the Tac Sport as well. I shot it and its amazing firearm. I am a huge single action fanboy so the trigger on the Sig just doesn't do it for me unless its the SA one.. (Think the elite) Shot the x5 nice gun but its not one for me.

As for the carry comments, lets be serious here. We live in Canada and we can't carry guns and if we could I wouldn't carry either one of those. Every one is simply shooting for fun or sport competition so the whole carry argument is simply a dumb one.

I say go for the TS SA is fun :) If you are going to do Action Shooting its a better gun and if you want production I wouldn't choose the SIG either I'd go with a Shadow Sp01 or some other inexpensive plinker.

The Sig will last longer. I saw two of our top Manitoba competitors shoot their Tac Sports into pieces over the course of 3 IPSC seasons. Maybe the new ones are better but I doubt it. YMMV.

I understand there were issues with the old IPSC version but none I am aware of with the new Tactical Sport models. I have one and love it. I have 7000 rounds through it and have had no issues. The only things to look for if you have one is the mag feed lips coming out of spec from dropping partly loaded mags on concrete. The feed lips need to be around 0.385 inches. Any failures to extract could be an extractor spring. I have upgraded to the Wolf extra power spring. I think All CZ's are great guns. Sigs are great guns also. I don't have a Sig but I do have 2 Tactical Sports and 1 Shadow and love them and would recommend them.

The feed lip issue for cz mags has always been there. That's why lots of people use tafno mags. Doesn't sound like the op will be doing sport shooting so it shouldn't be a huge issue.

Wow a lot of replies on here that I never checked! Been all over the map in the last year or so with trying different guns. I keep coming back to Sig (had a stainless elite in .40, same in 9mm, and an M11-A1 9mm). All of them had the 'elite' components - night sights, short reset and short reach trigger groups.
Now I have the TacOps.
I have shot a Shadow, they're nice but I don't really like the look of them. Great ergonomics.. something about the rear sight just doesn't do it for me. I still haven't had a chance to shoot the Tactical Sport, which is what I was asking about.

Now there's one on the exchange with thin aluminum grips as well as originals, 1000 rounds fired, blade tech holster and double mag pouch, thick ipsc style belt.
He wants to trade me for my TacOps and BlackHawk Serpa.... Value, I think is pretty similar as mine has a few more mags. I've really settled in loving the way the sigs feel and am very familiar with their controls.

Would the experienced guys that have shot both have an opinion on what on earth I should do?! I'd like to just trade with the guy on a temporary time period but who's to say if they'd honour a return trade if one or both of us ends up unhappy. He's never shot a Sig, and I've never shot a Tac Sport... would he be unhappy with the ergonomic TacOps with the TruGlo TFO sight and decocker action?

oh man...

I am also going out to check out my local IDPA events starting in March since I just discovered Canada BDX rediculously cheap ammo! I might even be able to afford to compete soon. The sigs are accurate enough for it.

You are really comparing apples and oranges.

CZ TS is a more of a competition pistol. Single action trigger, more accurate.

Sig226 more of a duty gun, double action on first pull, lighter more reliable.
I've owned a MK25, X5 Short and shot the SAO legion recently.

Depends on what you want to do. But I can honestly say I shoot the CZ TS better than the 226. I actually shoot my M&Ps and Glocks better than my p226s.

Fit and finish is excellent on the Sigs so you will eventually have to own one. Btw I have smaller hands and have no issues with the TS platform.

And if anyone has shot .357 Sig, tell me about it!

I own both.

Sig P226 Enhanced Elite 9mm. Combat style handgun. Superbly reliable. Accurate. On my good days I can do 2" groups at 10 yards. It will feed everything I throw at it. Super easy to strip and clean but will basically run indefinitely without cleaning. Takes a little while to get used to the trigger but that is the same with most guns. Only functional issue is that if you are used to a 1911 you need to train yourself to keep the thumb away from the slide release or it may not hold open on empty. I have put 3,500 rounds through mine. Every shot has gone bang and fed the next round. Still looks like it did the day I bought it new. If my life depended on it this is the gun I would use.

CZ TS 40 s&w. Target style handgun. Great, very light trigger at 1.5lbs. Superb accuracy. The limit is you not the gun. Somewhat fussy about the ammo it likes and you get some FTF with some ammo. Throws the spent cases a long way so if you reload you will loose a few. It has taken me a while to develop the optimum reload but I now shoot 155gr SWC at slightly under min powder charge and it is like shooting a dream. The grip is large, I have size large hands and it was too large for me. I put thin aluminum grips on problem solved. Now that I have it dialed in this is one or my favourite guns. It is not quite as nice as my Pardini but it is very close and a lot cheaper. Approximately 3,000 rounds through it and it now works flawlessly.
