Help choosing a 10/22

what he said....also try get an older one rather than one of the newer all plastic models. they tend to be more reliable

they don't make them like they used to

Its all a crap shoot. Some guns are tackdrivers what ever model you buy. Then some arent. Just like some are picky with ammo and some arent.
Ammo effects grouping more than what the barrel is made imo.

I have a sporter and a standard with a black synthetic stock. I like the sporter better nice to have the walnut stock with checkering. get the sporter have the trigger lightened and get yourself a 3x9 scope.

I went with the laminated/stainless barrel. BTW you guys are awesome for fast answering!

I assumed that it was worth the 60$ premium over the sporter even if it's mostly a carbine model (with sling studs). I will put this recoil pad later on for confort and increased lenght of pull

Any thought about best scope between 50 to 75$? I think for the price the Simmons seems hard to beat (see initial post).

Scope is not the place too cheap out on $50-$75 is entry level garbage. I spent $200 and bought a true rim fire scope, Nixon prostaff 150bdc.

You won't get much for that money except a junk scope. Spend some more on a better optic and you'll be a lot happier with it in the long run.

I really liked the Marlin initially, for it's bang for the buck. But at 160$ vs 340$, concidering that I could afford it and wanted something a little bit more premium, I decided to pick a distributor exclusive 10/22.
It's like buying a Ruger American in .270 Win Vs a Weatherby Vanguard in 7mm Rem mag... You get the wood, the caliber choice and it's a Weatherby... Both can shoot a moose though. Don't get me wrong, the Marlin 795/60 is excellent and I almost bought it, but I think that I would have wanted a 10/22 later on.
