"Standard" hole pattern - no clue what an Austrian or German maker would have used?? From Weaver listings - #46 base for front - will have 0.860" centre to centre holes and #45 for rear (large ring) and that is given as .504" centre to centre holes. Of the commercial ones that I have bought - Husqvarna, and Zastava, they had holes on that spacing, and were tapped 6-48 screws and threads - that is what comes with those bases from Weaver - no clue what the smaller or guild European makers would have used??? Appears that Weaver, Leupold, Warne, and probably others, do agree on hole spacing for their bases - of course, needed the separate gun makers to go along with the idea as well.
Some do not play nice?? I have had Win M70 with two different hole spacings for rear bridge, from factory - apparently the 300 H&H and 375 H&H got a closer spacing than other calibers - no idea how "new" ones are set up - the 375 H&H I played with was early 1960's; the 30-06 is from 1955. I have had several Mausers, maybe "home jobs", with three holes on the rear bridge - maybe covering their bets??
Another unusual spacing is Weaver #36 - the only one, I think, with .604" hole spacing - very large radius underneath - shows up on rear bridge of BSA sporter conversions - have not seen any others except the Parker Hales that were made for the same rifle.
