Help in Choosing a rifle

I hate to be that guy Bob, but I think you're mistaken. I got dinged for this years ago:

okay .. today i took the rifle to the range and asked the RO to help in sighting. He said, let me bore sight it first and came back. he did setup the rifle stand and did one shot with red dot and pulled the target. It was pretty accurate at 25 yards.

He said " i wont bother adjusting anything. you may be lucky that its already aligned well. After 100 rounds or so and at 50 yards if you want to zero it, then let me know and i will help adjust it."

But rifle in general was very nice to shoot and pretty accurate. Not much recoil. Happy with it. will do more test in my next session.

vortex sparc 2 red dot is good but i felt that i need some kind of magnification as target's red circle is toooooo small for me to see with red dot. this is at 25 yards. i dint try 50 yet

While you could replace the optic with one with magnification like an LVPO, or a traditional scope, the other option is to add a red dot magnifier to your setup. Downside is it will add some more weight. They don't cost a ton of money and will provide the magnification you need. I use a Holosun HM3x on mine, mated with a Holosun HS515GM. When I don't need it, I just flip it to the side. Works well for me and those like me who don't have eagle eyes at my age.

Use a different target.

Your gun is not a target rifle. Make the red dot as small as you can and still see it by dimming it. Cover the center of your target and be happy with 2" groups at 25 yards using your Sparc11. If you really want to see how the gun will do mount a 1x5 scope on it or a 3 x 9x scope. For hitting plates and 8: circles on steel or squirrels the red dot should work.

Take Care

Thanks both. but mine was very silent compared to next bay guy... i dont know what he was shooting but it was too loud and i felt the shock lol. but getting there.

Also completed my practical with a glock 17 which i can legally posses but cant buy :D

Yeah, the Ruger PCC is more suited to action shooting and gun games. Maybe you can't do these at your range, though. If you want to, you can work on wringing accuracy out of it, and some kind of magnified optic will help.

Guy beside you - probably wasn't what he was shooting but the likely fact he had a muzzle brake on his rifle. That would definitely do it based on what you describe. I have been on both sides of this scenario.

Thanks for that info. btw is it worth to spend on compensator for ruger pcc ?

today going to range for some more testing and sighting to my satisfaction (now i know how to do) will start from 10

Thanks.

Following is at 50 yards. I didn’t do any adjustments. It was well aligned. With all shooting today, rear iron sight came off. Need to check if it’s because of loose Allen screw. May need loctite. I never touched that before.

You have to use blue locate on those screws. Still good shooting. Minute of rabbit is all you need or chest if a bunch of bad guys decide to descend on you or a dozen tin cans need airing or......:>)

Did Mcarbo and Tandemkros upgrades. waiting to try it in range tomorrow. BTW white winchester NATO 9mm luger is so dirty. it makes my rifle really dirty.

list of upgrades

Tandemkross combo includes:

1x Bolt Release Pin (3-Pack)

1x Red Spring Recoil Spring

1x Eagle’s Talon Extractor

1x Recoil Spring Retainer

1x Upgraded Receiver KrossPins (2-Pack)

1x Sear Spring (3-Pack)

1x Bolt Head and Extractor Pin Set

Ruger PC Carbine/PC Charger Flat Trigger Upgrade MOD-2 [MCARBO]
Ruger PC Carbine Extended Charging Handle [MCARBO]
Ruger PC Carbine Extended Bolt Stop [MCARBO]
Ruger PC Carbine Shock Buffer [MCARBO]

All the upgrades are nicely paid off. Trigger is really good. less weight and recoil is less.

following is at 25 yards and no stand. Me standing and hitting the target. dumped 50 rounds today with upgrades. such a fun gun. wish they allow more than 10 per mag :D

ive got a very similar set up

as others have mentioned im thinking of getting a magnifier for behind the red dot. But thats on my "nice to have" list
if i stumble across a great deal ill get one, otherwise ill leave as is

Have you tried it with the higher cheek riser on the sock or is the low mount close enough for you?
Its about 30 seconds to swap put

Watch out ... magnifiers are gateways to prism scopes. Then a second rifle, or more, to inherit all the "old" toys! Nobody warned me - the wishlist is endless!
