For what it's worth, there might be further reaching "idealistic" reasons for allowing the use of 10 rnd AR/Beretta mags. I would argue that it shows that sport shooters can be "trusted" to safely use "high"(er) capacity mags without all babies and puppies in a 5 mile radius dying a horrible graphic death. If we limit OURSELVES to 5 rnd mags, we are in effect saying "they" are correct and that we only "need" low rnd mags.
In my perfect world, I'd have a 75 round drum in an AK and a 31 rounder in my Glock for a match.
