Agreed. I owned the XPS3-2 which is the same model, only compatible with NV. I loved it, but sold it only because I hate battery dependent sights (Trijicon ACOG and RMRs all the way baby).
That lower aiming dot is also very close to the point of impact at 35 yards when the upper dot is zeroed at 100. This gives you very precise aiming at ranges from 35-200 yards. The big circle is great for fast close shooting.
Awesome optic.
what is the advantage of a sight like this over reg iron sights?
I guess the issue was mostly with the 553 but how much are these new XPS models now? $750? $800? Not worth it just to have silly battery change from AA to CR123 IMO.
With the CR123 model you're paying $3 per battery which last just as short as 2 alkaline AAs.
Thats like a whole 12¢ a day.
Wouldn't say it is about the cost, rather the shorter life.
I personally don't find the speed advantage others get in the A65 reticle. It's about as fast as a regular dot, but actually less accurate for me due to my eyes. The 1MOA centre dot is not even close to 1MOA.
Maybe you need glasses to correct an un-diagnosed astigmatism?
