Help me decide what EOTech for my NEA15?

FWIW, I've yet to see an XPS series sight die. The "dead" sights I've seen have all been 5XX series sights and always related to the longitudinal battery arrangement.

YMMV.

The T1 is a nice sight, but very small aperture and suffers from (IMHO) tunnel vision effects. Also, to get it high enough for co-witness you need a $200 mount, making the optic over $1000 after taxes.

I find the XPS sights to co-witness out of the box, not require a secondary mount, and they give a much greater field of view.

I hated the 5XX series though... epic fail. Just because you hated the 5XX is no reason to not at least demo an XPS to see if you like it or not.

Agreed. I owned the XPS3-2 which is the same model, only compatible with NV. I loved it, but sold it only because I hate battery dependent sights (Trijicon ACOG and RMRs all the way baby).

That lower aiming dot is also very close to the point of impact at 35 yards when the upper dot is zeroed at 100. This gives you very precise aiming at ranges from 35-200 yards. The big circle is great for fast close shooting.

Awesome optic.

Would there really be that much hold over at a 100 yard difference?

what is the advantage of a sight like this over reg iron sights?

You keep both eyes open and have a huge field of view. Also, your head is not positionally sensitive like with irons. So long as you can see the aiming reticle, you don't have to align two points on the rifle like with irons. They are virtually parallax-free.

Once you've tried one you will see right away what I am talking about. They are so much faster than irons that it's scary.

But then again, if you don't need very fast target acquisition, you might be fine with iron sights.

Now with a magnifier added, you blow irons away though. It turns the eotech into a longer-range scope.

I guess the issue was mostly with the 553 but how much are these new XPS models now? $750? $800? Not worth it just to have silly battery change from AA to CR123 IMO.

$520 for the basic XPS2-0. There's more to it than a battery change as well. It adjusts easier, is much lighter, much more compact, more and better reticles, Eotech fixed co-witnessing with the standard mount... the list goes on.

^I revised my post. I thought the XPS models were the same price as the 516/517 which are $700+.

With the CR123 model you're paying $3 per battery which last just as short as 2 alkaline AAs.

Just came back from the range, where I shoot my XPS2-2 for the first time, in -26C*. I have it mounted on a CZ858 with an NEA front guard. It shot like a dream, didn't fog up, didn't cut off and I got some decent groups with Czech surplus ammo. I am a fan!

Wouldn't say it is about the cost, rather the shorter life.

I personally don't find the speed advantage others get in the A65 reticle. It's about as fast as a regular dot, but actually less accurate for me due to my eyes. The 1MOA centre dot is not even close to 1MOA.

Maybe you need glasses to correct an un-diagnosed astigmatism?
