Help me find a stainless/synthetic bolt action rifle.

...I wish Ruger made a M77 Hawkeye Laminate Stainless with a 22" barrel in 30-06. Closest thing they have is the Gunsite Scout or Laminate Stainless Compact.

Am I missing something?

Ruger M77 Hawkeye All-Weather Bolt Action Rifle

• Stainless steel and receiver
• Ruger's LC6 trigger
• Integral rings included

Redesigned by Ruger, the All-Weather Hawkeye boasts a number of enhancements that are setting a standard in bolt action performance. Features include Ruger’s LC6 trigger - the lightest, crispest trigger ever offered - and a steel floor plate with a patented latch design that eliminates any chance of “dumping” your magazine while hunting. Other standard features include black synthetic stock, matte finish stainless barrel and receiver, recoil pad and sling swivel studs. Integral Ruger rings included.

Caliber Barrel Length Overall Length Magazine Capacity Rate of Twist Weight
.223 Rem 22" 42" 5+1 1 in 9" 7-1/4 lbs.
.270 Win 22" 42-3/4" 4+1 1 in 10" 7-3/4 lbs.
.30-06 Sprg 22" 42-3/4" 4+1 1 in 10" 7-1/4 lbs.

You need to find a Sako m75 Finnlight in 30-06 and you are set. The Tikka T3 and Sako m85 have similar stock design where the m75 model has the Monte Carlos design and may fit you better. Or you order a MacMillan stock in a m75 Sako HUnter design for a Tikka T3 or Sako m85 rifle.

Snipping off a SPS barrel would an easy way to get where you want to be. Pick whatever stock you want and throw the Tupperware away.
You're right ..... I have a 24" SPS here in 7/08 that I just weighed up in a lightweight Wildcat. Bare rifle, no scope or mounts weighs a shade below 6lbs. Cut it back to 22", bed it and get the trigger tuned and you're set.

Yes you are missing something, the link you posted has a black synthetic stock. I said I wished Ruger made "LAMINATE STAINLESS" model M77.

....Sorry....misunderstood....

No worries, I actually am leaning towards the M77 Hawkeye All-Weather in 30-06. It seems to have the exact dimensions I'm looking for on a rifle. I will look into this Steyer Pro Hunter also but I should give you guys a budget of about $1200 max for rifle and if that includes tax I would be happy.

I do also like laminate stocks and wish they had the M77 Hawkeye Laminate with a 22" barrel. Ahhhh I'm sure they will put it out next year after I buy my M77 Synthetic.

Drop it into a Boyd's and bed it... add maybe $250 to your total cost.

M77's in Boyd's Laminate;

they are nice if you like that sort of thing

I would think that it would be apparent that I DO "like that sort of thing"... but I would be happy to provide another clue for you if that is (and it appears to be) necessary...
