Help me pimp my 1911A1C Norinco? (pic)

IMHO, switch to a non arched MSH, ditch these grips, change the sights (I prefer adjustable but if you like fixed, what ever floats your boat)

and even though you might not be a lefty, if you're not carrying, I think ambi safety looks much better on a 1911 than a single sided safety that shows pins on the right side of the gun

I will be dehorning her and removing the made in China and Norinco emblems myself and then parking her because this is what I have available (Thank you Radocy).

How are planning on removing the emblems ?? I've thought about this myself ( I'm planning on a 1911 Norc purchase ) I figured filling in with Tig weld and filing smooth etc. but I was concerned with it showing through any blueing, not an issue with parkerizing I suppose .... thoughts ??

Which trigger is that? I see you got the new style nork with the nicely finished slide. Ive got the same one, love it so far. Trigger pull feels heavy though.

The trigger is a McCormick. They've done a good job on new style Norc compacts IMHO. The trigger pull on mine was great right outta the box. Feeds all kinds of ammo flawlessly. Including Fiocchi 230 gr JHP's. That's one reason I just want to keep it "as is" for now.

How much material you figure you'll remove draw filing off the emblems ?? I thought it would be in the neighborhood of 20 to 25 thou, which seemed like a lot to me...... hence my thoughts towards filling the lettering with Tig weld prior to filing.

Can you remove that much without screwing things up mechanically or cosmetically ? Or am I just over estimating the depth of the lettering ??

Mine is GTG with just a grip swap and a FLGR.

Accurate, never has jammed and a good trigger.

Grips
Ahrends Silver/Black Dymondwood

The only thing I don't like about this Ed Brown is the price Have you seen what they want for one of these, I mean really - I know they're like art or jewellery, but you could buy a dozen Norcs for the price of one.

As far as removing the markings on a Norc, they're usually very shallow and can simply be polished out when prepping for refinish.

On some of the plethora of 1911's out there on the market you will pay a premium for a name. Ed Brown & Wilson for example. Only the buyer will have to decide if they are "worth it".

Great stuff guys. You're giving me some ideas here.
I think I'll avoid the full length guide rod. Love the idea of a really dark finish with ebony grips. Perhaps I should use the phosphate finish as primer and then finish with matte black duracoat and ebony grips. Not sure about lowering the ejection port - depends on cost I guess. Think I'll stick with the stock trigger for now...(and) Heine Combat sites...
