Help: Powder throwers, how good is good enough?

Thanks for the advice, So from everyone i'm seeing mainly:

1) That level of variation is, generally speaking, acceptable given i'm not a high level precision shooter
2) Try baffles
3) slow smooth throw (already been doing that but i will pay closer attention just in case)

The reason for using IMR 4064 and 4895 was mainly because that's what i had on hand to test with. It came with some of the reloading gear i got from a friend that got out of the hobby. I figured I would stick with 4064 since it is a pretty universal powder according to my handbook since i intend to shift into .223 and .303 Brit as well. I will consider trying some some of the ball powders you've all recommended. At the very least i'll look into whether or not any of them cover all the cartridges i want to reload. I'd like to just stock the 1 powder in bulk.

I have the cheapest Hornady model, 30 years old,no baffles. From full to all most empty never had a problem. Doing the throw the same each time is important. I brining the handle up had so it gives a good sharp tap, smooth on the down. Eventually after a 100 or so you'll known when you screw up, I can call it before it hits the scale.

The lee seems to work good if I stay constant with the operation. For instance I tap the side of the measure twice each time I drop powder, was told this help in consistent weights being dropped and I tend to agree. From all the different powders I have tried I seem to be getting no more than 0.2 +/- gains lift handle , tap side twice, drop powder.

Does anyone else use this method?

Same here. I have only loaded IMR4350 with it, so far, though. I shot some of my first .270 loads today. 50 grains of IMR 4350, Nosler 150 grain Spitzer out of my Mossberg Patriot. 2 inch groups at 100 yards on a windy day, using my deck railing for support. I am VERY happy with that.

I've never heard of that advice but I have tried it just because I was having issues. I found that the amount thrown still fluctuated somewhat between full and empty hopper, and a 3D printed baffle helped a lot more than tapping it ever did. Note that you'll have to redo all your throw settings after putting the baffle in though as it takes the weight of the column off the outlet and it's like you're throwing with a nearly empty hopper all that time.
