Hello CGN,

It is with a heavy heart that I post this. My property was broken into and most of my bolts for my rifles, along with much of my reloading supplies, was stolen recently. The thieves also took a pack of WW1 German ammo on original stripper clips. Funny thing is, the rifles were left behind.

I am asking for any and all help in locating these bolts. They were 2 M95 bolts, 1 Lebel 1886 bolt, 4 Gewehr 88 bolts, 1 Carcano bolt, 1 Kar 88 bolt, and 3 Gewehr 98 bolts that I can remember from memory. I have pictures of some of the bolts in question for reference along with their serial numbers.

I suspect the culprit is in the Thunder Bay area. If anyone hears, sees, knows anything by chance that will lead to the reunion of the bolts with their rifles, I would appreciate any and all assistance.

Thank you CGN.

I am happy to still have the rifles as there is plenty of history in them so not all is lost I suppose. Thank you for the help gentlemen, I hope this issue can be resolved soon.

go to all the local gun shops and pawn shops and tell them all your offering a reward . sooner or later they will try and sell them . or come back for the rifles. get a security system and some trail cams set up on and in your house . police love pictures makes there job easy.

Nabs;Sorry to hear about what happened.Post a reward for information.Hopefully one of these Scumbags "friends" will turn them in.I just hope that they just don't discard your bolts, and if they do I hope someone finds them for you.

This.

Sorry to hear about the break in, it's pretty good to hear that all is not lost though.

Why would you remove and store the bolts separatly

Many thanks gentlemen. I just called the local gun shop and informed them of the situation. I will also pass along what serial numbers I remember incase they can see anything in person and to pass along any information back to me and the local police.

Here are the serial numbers I do remember:

Gewehr 88 bolt #1: 7664 with a German eagle on the underside of the handle, mismatched German bolt
Gewehr 88 bolt # 2: Czech made with Fashi text and a mix of German and Czech marked parts
Gewehr 88 bolt # 3: Czech made with Turkish re-number: 7996
Gewehr 88 bolt # 4: Czech made with fashi text

Gewehr 98 bolt # 1: Blued, marked "3046 I"
Gewehr 98 bolt #2: Blued, bent handle, "9282 w"
Gewehr 98 bolt # 3: Patina, bolt handle slightly bent forward from battle damage, marked "928 c"

Carcano bolt: No serial number but is the straight handle type

Gewehr 71.84 bolt: 8621 r, slightly polished and shiny surface

Kar 88 bolt: 4211 e, spoon type handle and all parts match, it is mostly patina in colour

M95 bolt # 1: 4841 marked on the bolt knob
M95 bolt # 2: 2085 marked on the bolt knob

Lebel 1886 bolt: 43974 (marked twice on the bolt handle root, once lined out, and restamped just underneath)

Many thanks for the help everyone, it is times like this that make CGN a great friendly place.

I did it to get more room out of my safe and to make the storage area more secure and safe. They didn't try to get at the rifles, and they left a handful of reloading supplies but the buggers took my reloading press and my die sets.

For those wondering, yes, I can provide a reward though this set back couldn't have come at a worse time as I am between jobs at the moment. Fair is fair though, any information leading to the return of the bolts, or some of them anyway, will be duly rewarded.

Thats a huge loss. Im sorry
chances are that this is not what they were hoping was in the lock box. They will prob dump them somewhere...which isnt all that bad..just gotta hope whoever finds them turns them in to the police.

If they found reloading supplies & didn't even try to get at the rifles is it possible they didn't know what they were taking

what I'm getting at is: they appear to have taken a lot of heavy pieces of metal.

i.e. Call all the metal recycle places in the area.

what make press, dies & calibers?

I will keep my eyes peeled as well.

you should also talk to your neighbours and see if they seen anything. and post a notice at the local gun club asking for people to keep an eye out for them.
