My son is in the midst of saving a Lee Enfield that Bubba got his hands on. His aim is to create an Enfield Enforcer-like gun of it.

After cleaning out all the creatures that were living in it, the barrel looked good so we decided to put a scope on it and see how it shoots. The B Square mount went on easily and it includes rings as well. He bought a modest Tasco 9-24X40 scope (pretty good value for the price) and tightened and put blue Locktite on the all mount and scope screws. I took the gun to the range and got it shooting 2 inch groups half the time. I suspect that is as good as we can expect from an $85.00 rifle that is over 60 years old.

The problem is that the scope moved forward after 45 shots. The focus ring is jammed against the end of the receiver.

What can he do to keep this from happening?

Thanks all.

Do as RePete has said, but put one or two wraps of electrical tape instead of rosin and it will work as well. You can trim the excess tape with an exacto knife if you are careful enough and not even damage the scope tube finish....

electrical tape
 40 lashes for you. Electrical tape and guns shall NEVER meet.
try a small patch of Hockey Tape, (the gun owners friend :) ) inside the rings.

Aw, c'mon Dosing. You gotta have a little Bubba in you. Everyone has a little Bubba inside them just bursting to get out.....:runaway:

all joking put aside, this is also a good idea.....:)

Monsieur, je suis "Le Bubba", c'est vrais, mais.... people who use electrical tape cross the line. I used to hate seeing that crap, because it always meant some Red Green type had just applied icky sticky to thier gun, that they now wanted you to fix.... after you got that damn tape off (always about half and inch thick as well  ).
I always kept a few rolls of hockey tape handy, and it does indeed work well on rings, as the hockey tape is tacky, not gluey, and flattens out superbly, and is less temperature sensitive than that other crappy tape.

Bubba... yes, I think you are right, sign #1 du bist eine Bubba, electrical tape on your gun :runaway:

Even better is the hockey blade tape...it has a nice grip to it. :)
And for the record no there is no tape on my rifles. :D

You're going to have to apply heat to the screws to get the lock-tite loosened before you can do anything. A soldering iron on the screws for a few seconds should heat the locktite enough to get them out so you can re-mount the scope.
How's the headspace? That should have been checked before spending any money on it.
