Ive been over this extensively in previous posts and similar convo's. Select retailers keep advertising it as NC even though multiple people including myself have done primer on bright nail tests and its is undoubtedly berdan primed, it rusted quicker than my corrosive ammo! When confronted they say the same to me from lever arms "Chinas fault not ours, we extensively tested it", They have done zero testing, that or they are blatently lieing. Ive demanded data from the testing, and of course none was provided. In fact I dont even see them claiming the test results were non corrosive, just that they did extensive testing. This 72/31 rusts quicker than my corrosive russian '75 and is wayyyy dirtier. I even had one casing that was completely rusted out prior to me unloading it and testing the primer. This was the same kind of results (rusted out casing being unique) for all 3 crates I bought and tested; No variance in corrosivity. The only variance I saw was as disturbing as the corrosive primers.
Ive thrown about upwards of 300 rounds from a spam can (720) into a "do not shoot through anything you value" which all have copper burrs and decent sized chunks of copper protruding from where the bottleneck and bullet meet(often sticking out further than the casing itself). This is fresh from the package. Absolutely horrid quality control, and I'm not seeing the burs doing anything positive for my barrels or where the bullets hitting, absolute waste of lead/steel and copper, and my money. Curious how much of an issue you guys think that would actually make (the burrs) if i continued to shoot them through say.. my sks. Im being cautious as I value my rifles.
All this being said, stay the heck away from all this ammo retailers claiming that prior 1990's is non corrosive, they are swindlers and liars and keep reaping the benefits of ill informed shooters who trust the retailers false advertising. Shame on you retailers for taking advantage of new participants in our sport. This trend of people saying " lesson learned" or "you should have researched it", thats wrong and I hope a retailer screws you over ASAP so people can say the same ignorant thing to you.. If it was advertised as corrosive and the person simply negated to learn what corrosive meant, then I completely agree lesson learned and they should have researched that corrosive = rust. But retailers should not be lieing to customers about their products in the first place, and then backing up their lies with more lies, regardless of a customers knowledge. It should be sold as corrosive, stop making excuses for these retailers lies.. Your not going to go to a full serve gas station and ask for gas, have them pump you diesel, and drive away(not far lol) saying "shoulda researched it". Give your head a shake. Its pure dishonesty from the retailers.
Consider yourself lucky you didnt spent 375 a case like lever arms WAS selling it as. Wasn't until a whole bunch of us made a big stink and suddenly its down to 300 with them still claiming NC.. Dirty lever.. dirty..
Hope we see less and less of these posts and upset people, and more people becoming informed. Good luck on the hunt for more X39 and enjoy the weekend
