Hello fellow gunnutz! I am posting this in hopes someone may be able to offer some advice...

I purchased a Henry lever arms 45/70 off of a fellow cgner a while back. Un knowingly to me and maybe to the previous owner... the chamber had a huge gouge in it and resulted in difficult extraction, overextended casings and was just not to the standard of a Henry arms firearm.

I contacted Henry arms who connected me with 'Grech Outdoors' as they are the only warranty approved location for Henry Arms firearms...

I won't go into detail with the terrible costumer service and lack luster approach to repairing the rifle. Long story short, it wasn't repaired correctly and was sent back to me.

The chamber has been honed / polished and now is slightly oversized and the gouge is still there - obviously.

I contacted Henry arms to see if I had another option to have my rifle repaired. They again connected me with 'John' at Grech Outdoors - the same guy I delt with the first time.

John asked me to send him package size and weight and he would send me a shipping label. This was Oct 24, 2020. I've yet to hear from John. I've emailed a week back (nov 23) to try to touch base, nothing.

Does anyone have any advice as to what I can do about this? I've had this rifle now for almost 2 years and have still yet to have it repaired properly. I'm not sure how to have John do the work properly. I've been consulted with industry experts about the repair and have been told it simply needs a new chamber / barrel. John stated that 'everyone thinks they're a gunsmith, I don't care what you say until I see it.

I'm frustrated and don't know what to do.

Cheers

Henry repeating arms is a sponsor on this site. Maybe a PM is worth while or a post in their section?
Sounds like a manufacturing flaw and should no doubt be repaired. I’m not sure how their warranty works though.
I’ve dealt with grech personally and know exactly what you’re going through. Worst service I’ve ever experienced and I wasn’t even using a warranty. 6 months to order an extractor for a CZ 97.

well I will never buy a henry now. I will not buy any firearm that the warranty is done by grech. They kept a smith and Wesson revolver for over a year never fixed it. I finally asked for it back they sent back broken even though they said they had the part to fix it. Sent it to roger danko gunsmith he had it fixed in a few days.

when my Henry Big Boys firing pin broke I just got them to mail me the new one for me to do it myself, if possible I reccomend going that route for everyone else needing warranty work done by them

I hate to say it , but if the rifle was already in for warranty work once , and was not repaired correctly ; then it is best to ask the manufacturer for a new replacement rifle . If that fails , just pass the rifle on to a new home with full disclosure , and absorb any loss . At the end of the day , the rifle is not worth the headache .

Grech has an absolutely horrible reputation for bad, slow, or nonexistent work. Along with atrocious communication. Contact Henry in the states with email proof of your struggle with Grech. If no joy there, sell, or pay to have it fixed and post everywhere about you experience. I applaud great customer service. Them fixing a problem well is almost more satisfying than not having one in the first place. I’ve had 2 great customer service interactions lately, one with MDT, and one local business. They are out there.

Maybe, jest maybe Henry will follow Chiappia's example.................?.......................:onCrack:

Henry, dare's ya....................

Early Xmas present for us CGN'r's.

Absolutly, I did send Henry Arms a direct message. I will wait to see what they say, I may just email there headquarters again regarding the issue. Heck, I'd be willing to certify as an armourer for Henry Arms firearms just to ensure no canadian has to deal with the absolutly frustrating and sub par treatment one gets from Grech outdoors. I don't understand how they're still in business with the reputation they have.

I'd ask Henry's directly on this forum. I mean they are a sponsoring business with their own forum here, if everyone piles on & tells their PR guy how much Grech sucks it'll be rather hard for them to ignore.

I'm still waiting for a part from Grech that they assured me- several times- would be coming net month.

That was in August 2013. Laugh2

Snapshots that does Ruger warranty is only slightly better than Grech. They take forever and might forget about you for a year but you probably will get your gun back and it probably might even be repaired. :)

I like this suggestion

How does this DUMBASS John Gretch become warranty for all these gun manufactures?!?!? He gives ZERO Fs about customer service.

The way he looks at this is YOU owe him for him fixing your rifle under Warranty. You are bothering him for having him fix your rifle.

He doesn't care if you get your gun back, Or does he care to even answer your messages or give you a heads up to what's going on.

My mossberg shotgun was there for 6 months waiting on a new spring for magtube. Finally had to get Mossberg to phone him and MAKE him call me back to let me know what was happening. I gave him a piece of my mind about his customer service, He just said "get it fixed elsewhere" then slammed the phone down

Next gun that needs work and has to go to John Gretch I will just cut up and smelt the piece of sht down to nothing and buy a new one.

I steer everyone i know clear of this ######. I know lots of Mennonites/Amish in Mount Forest area, I tell them all to avoid him nowLOL.
