Here I Sit, Broken Hearted...

If you want a good optic for the money you can't beat the $400 Hi-lux CMR 1-4 from Wolverine. It has great glass, zero-stop turrets, a nice BDC reticule and illumination.
I have mine in a PEPR QD mount and it's great. I shopped around for a long time and there is nothing that can touch it until you get up in the $1000+ range.

What are 'prismatic' optics all about, fellas? Budget-wise I would like to think I can get what I need for under $1500.00...

Prism's are used to make the optic more compact then a typical lens system would allow. They work well for 1X or low magnification and they also have the advantage of a focus adjustable eye piece that allows it to be adjusted for your eye sight. They are not like red dot's in that they have eye relief limits like a traditional scope but when set up right they are just as fast as a red dot and can be run without power.

With your budget you have options.

The Hilux CMR 1X4 is a good option if you can find one in Canada, not sure if Wolverine has stock?

Took a look and Wolverine has stock including the upgraded Hi-Lux CMR4

Leupold 1X tactical
-etched glass reticle and a light up so if the batteries fail you still have an optic
-small, light and true 1X meaning no optical issues when two eyes open
-folks with astigmatism can use the optic as well
