Hey Glock Gurus, Info Needed

So, to help the OP, why don't you explain the reasons for "sucks" etc...? Vickers has got a couple million rounds down range, so I thought his input and data points would help...

Who, me? The sucking thing? Well, here goes....To suck is slang for inferior, poor, low quality..ect. I poured tons of lead down range myself. And ALL "stock" stiker fired pistols are inferior to a p7 in accuracy, speed of handling, Materials, fit and finnish and being a safe pistol that will last and have a decent re-sell value as well. These come from experience for i own or i've owned the pistols being questioned here. Not mentioning auto loaders with extenrnal hammers. For the money the glock is a great buy, no questions asked, However, they need slight modifications (Triggers, extentions of mag releases, slide locks, barrels..ect) to be as good as a stock HK. Hence the price difference. To some this doesn't matter as it shouldn't.
With over a million rounds down range, The keeping the finger off the trigger thing is some awsome advice...wow. i'm sure a downtown east side lesbian could tell you that one.

Funny, I have never needed to modify my Glock. Runs accurately and flawlessly. I find it odd that you would compare a $2000 pistol with a $700-900 pistol. I love the P7, but if it came down to the two I'd take the Glock.

Fantastic article, sums up my feelings of the two pistol's applications perfectly. As far as CCW goes I'd probably take the P7, SHTF I'd go Glock.

Ok, you all convinced me, well, you among some other close friends that have partaken of the purple tupperware Koolaide....

I picked it up off it's reluctant owner the other day.

Anyone know where to buy the newer locking glock cases?

Also missing the cleaning rod, where can I pick up one of those?

Great choice, you will not be disappointed. As far as HK compaired to Glock goes, you must be talk of the P& because the USP is certainly no the gun that the Glock is. As far as the P& goes, yes it is more accurate, and next tot he SIG P210, probably the most accurate 9mm ever built, but for the price of the P7 you can buy a Glock and LOTS of ammo and int he end will it really make that much difference, no not at all. The Glock is ultimate KISS gun. My dad has my old First Gen G17 bought in 1989, it has over 250,000 rounds through it and it still runs like new with never a single issue related to the gun, not even a broken spring. Although not my favorite gun, it is the "1" gun I would 100% reply on every time I needed it. By todays standards, I think the G17 is the best combat pistol in the world.

love my glock 17c

I just got my first glock before xmas. I too was a not a big fan of all the plastic. But after checking them all and for the price it was hard to beat. It feels comfortable in my hand and shoots very well. It is a gen 3 with the compensated barrel and adjustable sites. I must say that I am know truly a fan of the Glock. Get one and have some fun.:dancingbanana:

Epps had some surplus CF IVI 9mm in 32 round boxes for sale a few years ago. I've put a few boxes of that stuff through my 3rd Generation G17 with nary a bobble.

That's the info I am looking for. I have several cases of that stuff, it definately is a little 'snappier' than commercial stuff.

Resisted glocks for years, Plastic junk etc. Picked up a G27 a little while back, now its the 1 that always goes to the range with me, i like it & am looking at at more glocks now........

New to pistols, and glocks, continue on gents, i am learning.

Glocks are a great entry into the pistol market place. They are reliable, easy to clean, easy function (load, rack slide, pull trigger).

When getting into pistols i would first identify your need. Looking for a reliable cheap plinker? Planning on competing? Do you want to clean every trip or every 5,000 rounds? You preffer the "looks" of one gun vs. the next.

I bought a glock because i can beat it into the ground and it'll still shoot. Looks were secondary to me. There are alot less moving parts in a glock vs. 1911 style, no stupid side mounted "safeties" no hammer de-cocker to worry about.

Keep It Simple Stupid pretty much sold me. That beeing said i also own a few sig's now... I am just a sucker for reliability i guess..

Yes, it is a little sporty compared to other loads I've put through the Glock...and I had another look at the ammo, it is in boxes of 64 rounds, not 32...hopefully that does not change anything for you. Shoot, reload and repeat!

Glock's are love/hate weapons. I absolutely despise the 3rd generation Glocks, massive might've fit my hand if it weren't for those stupid finger grooves that completely ruin the feel pistol for me. I also think they're a tad too light but as a duty gun 99% of the time they're in the holster.

The 2nd generations I think are a tad better for me, still a little light but the trigger's pretty good for what it is. Can't beat parts availability.

Yeah, that's the same stuff I got. Two ammo cans worth, small 3"x3"x1" card board boxes bound by fabric tie. I was told they were that way as the Sten gun mags were 32 rounds each. I have shot a bunch of it in CZ and Ruger SA handguns and it is a lil hotter for sure. Just wanted to make sure that it isn't too much for that polymer frame....
