Maybe we outta cut him some slack & educate him so he can get up to speed. We were all newbs once..... ;) :)

Problem is, newbs should know to keep their mouths shut. I know when I first joined I assumed I didn't know squat (actually not much has changed ) and posted accordingly.

People that don't know what the hell they are talking about really should avoid making that public knowledge.

My first FAC was issued in '86, at that time there was a widely distributed piece of paper (I remember reading it) that stated that hollowpoints were not to be loaded in handguns, under penalty. At that time, you could buy them, but every box had a label on it that said "for use in rifles only". I still have some boxes marked that way. At some point I'm sure it was illegal, but those laws were changed, I think around the time of C-68. At that time the Vancouver PD were issuing 110 grn +P+ SWCHP, no controversy about police use of them in my recollection. There were 3 or 4 lawsuits involving the NYPD for their insistance on using 158 LSWC, as the ammo would simply blow through the intended target, and into an innocent victim.

It goes back to the twit at NRCAN who heard that hollowpoint bullets were explosive, and stopped importation of handgun hollowpoint ammunition. Rifle ammunition was not affected, thus the stickers. Also everyone knows that handgun ammuntion comes in 50 round boxes, rifle in 20s, so you would see hollowpoint handgun calibre ammunition in 20 round boxes.
Nothing to do with legality of possession, use, etc, in Canada.
