I started with bulk packs of 525 CCI Blazer (bare lead) which shot just fine but leaded up the barrel pretty quickly (300-400 rounds maybe before a sudden and massive loss of accuracy). For my most recent outing I switched to Winchester 333s which are copper plated and after 250+ rounds the bore still looks pretty clean.

Oh a 1911 will not be my only 22 pistol . I will get another old 41 . I really loved that gun . Also I'll definitely be getting a buckmark as I really like my friends . I will look into the Mark III as well .
Given enough money , I would own every 22 lol .

I. Had the same problem with losing the part of the mag that attaches the spring to the base plate on one of my mags after I dropped it at the range. I just threw it in my spare parts box incase i buggered up another mag and needed some other part down the road and just went out and bought a few more magazines. They are cheap and it nice to have at least 5 so you can spend more time shooting and not as much time stopping to reload 1 or two mags between shots.
As far as ammo I do like to use the blazer bulk packs because they are cheap but I have has the same issue with the lead flakes that I had to push out. Ill still use it because it is cheap and I clean my guns after every single time I shoot them. My absolute favorite ammo for the gsg though are the velocitor rounds as the run hot and fast and accurate... But they are double the price of the bulk blazer so I tend to save them for special occasions.

I have the Colt/Walther/Umarex 1911 and mine is fantastic. Eats everything just fine; premium high velocity on down. Accuracy was better with the standard velocity ammo.
For fun, I used some left over Sub-sonic Eley (10 rounds), and it worked! I'll have to try it again with the camera running as I don't expect anyone to believe me with out evidence.
After that, I decided to try a CB-Long just to see....nope....fired, but did not extract. No surprise, but then I didn't expect the sub-sonics to work either.

You're right . I noticed on the Blue Line site that they have mags for sale as well ( for the GSG ).
I also noticed Kimber makes a sweet looking .22 1911 . Quite a bit more $ though .
Yup , I have gotten nothing but good advice from this community thus far and I think I will be getting that GSG first . I'm really leaning towards my second one being a Ruger Mark III . Seems they can be a real bummer to strip but other than that they are getting super high reviews . If not the Ruger , I might just save a bit more dough and pony up for the model 41 . The older ones appear on the EE time and again . Mine was a super solid old gun , never had an issue with it . Guess that's why they run about $800 used still .

With that budget I would look for a High Standard Victor or Military Trophy. The Rugers have always struck me as cheaply made .... but rock solid dependable! S&W 41's are nicely made but no better (or worse) than target High Standards. Read where someone mentioned that 41's can't go multiple strings without an "alibi" .... I have witnessed that too.
