Hi from a future Canadian

Hi, I am German and I have been living in the US for more than 10 years, but never really felt home here (especially in Bush country).
The only advantage her is the lax gun laws, so I got into shooting and love it.

Now I got a job offer with my company in Canada and I will be moving to BC.

That brings up the question about any tips how to get 2 pistols and two rifles to Canada. I know I will have to pass a safety test - which should not be a problem since I have not shot myself in all these years.

Anyway I am happy to join this forum and come to the friendly Canadians.

Friendly?
Try driving in the left lane on the trans canada in the lower mainland really slow...and you'd see how friendly we are.

Depends on what they are. A lot of what's legal down there can't be imported (prohibited) Let us know what you have and we can give you an idea if you can bring them up in the first place.

I agree, Canada has been castrated with left leaning anti US anti bush BS types I really dont think it needs anymore.

I disagree, we need more left-leaning people who are into shooting sports. And you don't have to be a liberal to disapprove of Bush.

Besides, Germans are good for the gene pool.

Agreed, hope you have a good time in Canada.
The man owns 2 handguns and two rifles, to me that sounds like he supports the gun community.
The question is, do you support the hunting community as well?

Hello, and welcome to CGN!
Have a look at the Newbie FAQ section that I wrote. It should answer a lot of the questions you no doubt have.
The link to it is in my sigline below.

And welcome to Canada, if you do make the move!

Ok so let me get this straight, because one does not like Bush, that means they are a left wing Liberal? Most of the Republican party does not like Bush anymore.......!

By the way, welcome from a fellow German.

He said "bush country", which puts him in opposition to the republican party generally. Bush is on the way out: leaving a country for one president would be stupid; leaving it because of a yearning for the socialist paradise of Canada makes sense (viewed in isolation of common sense).

You know there are a lot of Democratic gun owners, not that I would be, but look at Vermont, least amount of gun control in the US, no CCW required if you are a resident of the state and it has been Democrat for years, so I guess that if you are not a Republican then you are anti gun? There are "fors" and "againsts" on both sides of the Government in the US. Because he said the words "Bush Country", assuming he is a left wing Liberal is a we tadd premature.

Let's not get too carried away with semantics. I think we all know what is meant here, only it gives certain individuals a rather weak opportunity to ''rag''out on others. Besides, would all those who consider George W. bush to be a genius and mensa material, please raise your hands......I didn't think so!

Love him or hate him, let`s attack on facts. Based on his SAT scores, he`s around 125 or so on the IQ scale. Not quite Mensa, but not dumb.

Now, getting back to the OP, a gun-loving person is a good start, but a gun-loving person who supports socialist policies is at best self-deluded. Socialist policies will result in gun loss soon enough. So, his arriving will be a net loss to Canada.

Were in any post did he say he supported Socialist Policies? For crying out loud, he is a new CGN member who is moving here from the US and you are judging him based on what, because he does not like Bush, give your head a shake and stop being so judgmental, if you want to know if he is a lefty, why not just ask instead of assuming he is.
