Hi-point 995ts

Heh, I see Kodiak was formulating a post at the same time as I was. O'well, maybe one day we can get some non-restricted versions. Until then, they"s probably the most fun you can have with your clothes on...or not.

Gotta get this in an unrestricted barrel length. As I mentioned on another thread on this subject, I emailed Hi-Point, and they said the design team was looking for feedback from Canadian distributors as to whether it would sell or not.

Would it ever sell! These would be flying off the shelves if they were non-restricted.

TO: Kodiak outpost

Knowing the good relationship and proof of delivery in canada couldnt a special order be done via prepaid? at that price you could easily get the orders without worry. just a feeling there is alot of people here who would be on that wagon.

Prepaying isn't an issue. We prepay on almost all orders from all suppliers anyway. The issue is that hi-point is already selling every single rifle before it is made. There isn't a lot of incentive to change anything when they already cannot keep up with demand.

As it is now, we are very fortunate to have a supplier who is committed to getting us the restricted versions. We are already getting special treatment as many other people have to wait much longer for supply.

We'll continue to pursue the non-res, but as I mentioned earlier I don't expect it in the near future. Of course, if things change I will notify the cgn community.

:) thanks for the response still appreciate all the work you guys do to get affordable fun in stock. i just dream big.

I'd buy a non-restricted version in a heartbeat. My Hi-Point .45 is still one of the funnest pistols I own, and I own a $hitload or typical pricey S&W's, Colts etc...

Put me on your list for those who wish to buy a non-restricted please!

So if the 10rnd mag from the 9mm pistol wont fit in the carbine but the carbine mag will fit in the pistol (tho it extends slightly farther).

Couldn't the carbine be modified to accept the 10rd pistol mags by "slicing" off that bit of grip extension on the carbine. Would this be legal?

The 9x19 pistols are not Canada-legal (barrel length).

The magazines have to be for a "firearm commonly available in Canada".

If they made a new 9x19 pistol with 4.2" barrel and used the carbine magazines....... I'm slipping into dreamland again...

Glad to hear that Kodiak is trying all of his options regarding these. Personally, it doesn't matter to me if they're restricted or non-restricted, if I can afford one next time they come in, I want one.

I hope the manufacturer is keen on making money and gearing up to increase production numbers. Maybe if they catch up with demand they'll have time for specialty production runs for Canada.

I have a few friends down in the states who owned these. Out of the box they're pretty good rifles for the money, the problem lies in the fact that the receivers are made out of really really cheap materials, some kind of zinc if I remember correctly, and they have an expected life of only a few thousand rounds. Even if they don't blow up they'll start jamming up or literally falling apart way before other guns for the same money will, especially for how much more you have to pay for them up here. I have read reviews by owners who have had the guns bolt develop multiple cracks after firing only around 2000 rounds of military spec loaded 9mm. Theres also the fact that the magazines come out of spec from the factory and will eventually probably require you to work some magic with vice grips to get them to feed properly after a few thousand rounds. Take your 350 and buy a Russian SKS from lever and 1200 rounds of ammunition for it, unless you absolutely must own one of every gun ever, regardless of its quality. :)

They're nowhere near as bad as their pistols though, avoid those at all costs.

Got a HP45 pistol and I tell you its well worth the 250$ I've paid for!
I gotta admit, its does look more like an air drill than a pistol!

Its a fun gun! Thank god I was curious enuff to buy one!

I will own a 995 as soon as they are availiable.
