Hical SKS Problem

yes to both

Yes, im pretty sure its cause the stock sucks.
But Hical sells these and they charge a bunch of money for it, a portion of which is for the modification services. So I expected them to make it work...
i'm with you there bud and i feel your frustration.
As a guy who built rifles..... and made custom composite stocks and mod stocks for over a decade....... it would be my experienced opinion that HiCal should be fixing the problem with the rifle they built. Like I said before, the modification to that particular stock that is required to make it actually work, should be child's play for any decent gun builder.

Man that sucks. I can't suggest much other than to keep hounding them. Doesn't look like they're still a sponsor here, but maybe they have a Facebook page? If you can't get through on the phone perhaps a more public venue will help get a resolution?

Tiker - In Post #3, where I noted the 'thing' hanging down from the barrel about at the Front of the hand-guard is, that's where the Front of the stock is inserted to retain the stock with the barrelled action. Have you tried that . . . since you didn't answer Any of my Qs. AND in the pics the Safety is NOT 'on', so attachment of the stock is questionable as well.
In my Tapco stock, the Front of the stock is inserted in the Front 'hanging loop' off the barrel, then pressed Firmly into the back of the stock so the Locking Pin catches the action. That sequence is needed so the Front of the stock is 'locked into' the barrelled action FIRST, in my Tapco.
When you bought this gun, was the stock attached OR was it disassembled for shipping ?

sorry, I thought i responded but guess not.
I can insert the lower handguard into the front, but i can also easily push it out afterwards. I pushed it out on purpose to take these pics.

When I bought it, the stock was attached and it showed up fully assembled.
Even though the front lower handguard is in the condition as seen in the pics, the rear part near the pistol grip is locked into the stock and cannot be removed.

There should be a release button like on the OEM SKSs. On my Tapco, you have to go in thru the handgrip, which is hollow and push the release button - I use a long philips screwdriver. Then the action comes out of the stock. To re-assemble, first the forearm goes into the 'barrel-loop'. Then the action goes down into the rear of the stock, and I tap it with the rubber hammer. All this is done with the Safety in "LOCK" position, or else things don't go together right.
Maybe if you look at the SKS stickies for the disassembly vid link it will help you if my posts aren't clear ? Next step would be to talk to someone at your 'club'? that's familiar with SKSs.

I know what you mean and I can confirm the rear is tapped in and solidly locked up. But even with everything set up properly, it just takes some force on the rear of the receiver to push the entire receiver forward and cause the issue in the pictures

Too bad you're not closer. I can pretty much guarantee I could fix it.
