High end rimfire rifles? What scopes do you use?

That's what I was wondering CK.
Want to get a feel of what you "premium round" guys are using.
ssapach - I found I enjoy the more busy reticles on the 22 scopes. I am looking at all options though. Do you employ turrets while ranging or do you hold over for the longer shots?

Dont worry I have you, Ive used a tasco 10-40 ... it was dark even on the sunniest days but it worked.

Again im currently using a $350 Bushnell Trophy Xtreme 6-24x50 and it works perfectly fine.

I think ammo will be your biggest issue for bench rest...

I use vortex HST 6-24×50 on my Anschutz,s I also have a cheapo hawke vantage 6-24×44.I have 2 of the HST, s and swap them around as I usually have more rifles than scopes. I find the reticle perfect for my myopic eyes. I've tried fine reticles and dots and don't like them. I also had a fixed 36x sightron and found I shot better with the Vortex. It's not a one size fits all when it comes to glass.I would like to try a nightforce benchrest with the npr 2 reticle. I've looked through a friends SIII 8-32 but don't like the lrmoa reticle.

Most of my rimfire rifles wear Leupold VX-2 AO scopes, 3-9X33, 4-12X40 & 6-18x40, all with fine duplex reticles. The others wear Weaver V24X or T36X with fine crosshair and 1/8 MOA target dot.

I just put a Leupold FX Rimfire on my 455 and it's very nice. Compact, clear, parallax set for 65 yards and the fixed 4x is very useful. It's not a BR gun and this scope is sweet. I like good optics and the Leupold rimfire scopes are ideal IMO, not overkill and not Chinese garbage either.

Mostly an Anschutz BR guy here. My 1411 wears a Sightron SIII 8X32X56 and my 54.30 wears a Nightforce NXS 8X32X56
I enjoy both. Though I appreciate the Nightforce, I think the Sightron is more than enough and very clear.

My high end 22's are currently sporting a Mueller 4.5-14x40 30mm, and a Sightron SIH TAC 4-14x 40, I'm happy with both..
The mueller cost me somewhere around $250, and the Sightron just over $300.
Both sit on fully custom 10/22's.

grauhansen, what fixed scope would you recommend between 25-100yrds+ and are they available with side focus?

Leupold Competition scopes are available with side focus and are in 35X, 40X, and 45X. I think the minimum focus is 50 yards, but perhaps you can see a little closer. Most other fixed scopes seem to be 36X with AO. The Sightron SII 36X focus goes down to 15 yards.

On my Sako Finnfire P94 I have a Bushnell 6500 elite 6/30X50, Mil., silly I know, but at the time it was the only one handy other than a POS 4-9.
It works super snipping gophers out to 150 or so yds, the 30power is useless, 20 is good.

My custom Bill Calfee Anschutz wears a Sightron SIII 8X32X56 scope with fine crosshair reticle.
Very satisfactory. Perhaps a less costly scope would serve as well, but that's what I had in the safe.
Very good quality for the price.

I've yet to really spend as much on a rimfire scope as I do on a rimfire rifle (though my .223 wears a scope worth 2X what the rifle does)...but..I'm open to the idea. I think my hang-up is that even decent, modestly-priced scopes work pretty well to to the distances most guys shoot 22LR. BUT, to answer the question...my CZ452 Varmint wears a Sightron S1, 4-12x40 HHR (primarily a gopher rifle, but some targets...if they're gophers :) ) and my NEW Anschutz 64 MP R "Tactical Trainer" wears a Weaver V-16 "target dot" 4-16x42 AO. Not a common scope to see in Canada, but boy does it mate-up with that rifle nicely. Looks sharp too!

I am totally new to rimfires in this class though...in spite of the fact that I've been plugging away with rimfires for nearly 30 years. Figured it's time to see what life is like on the other side. Anyhow, I considered the choice of that scope to be sort of "testing the waters" but boy, it's proven to be a great choice. Just thrilled with the set-up.

The pictured Leupold VX2 3-9X33 EFR CDS is my all time favorite rimfire scope, it's not "high end" but it's a perfect little scope. For me it's a must that any rimfire scope for general purposes can focus down to 25 yards or less.

For more target oriented work, the aforementioned 6.5-20X40 EFR will make more sense, and the Sightrons are probably worth a look. Everyone will have their own personal preferences!

Those measurements aren't even close

Lol, here I will provide a spacial reference.

The target I use the innder circle is .500
The 2nd ring is 1 inch
The 22 bullet diameter is .222

I measure from the farthest point to farthest point on each group.
Take that number, minus .222
The result is the groups total distance from center of all bullet impacts.

I know I use a cheap CT micrometer, that is what they came out at. Trust me the picture makes the groups look worse then they are... Here is a reference for the target I used.

They may not be Bench rest competition standards but they are definitely as close as you can get them.

I dont print my home made targets on the nice thick, no rip paper they use in competition.

I will be glad to go shoot some more groups. Scan it, send it to you. So then you can print it out and measure.
