I contacted the firm a couple years ao asking about the carbine (it was very well reviewed in gun tests) for a fun plinker. They were, how could I put it, "sketched" about selling to canada. I'm sure if a quality importer (like Can Am maybe) worked with them they might ship. The Hi-point carbine would be a real inexpensive alternative to the beretta storm and is supposed to be reliable and accurate you could probably retail them in canada for less than $400. ATI even makes a beretta storm-ish stock for it.
You're kidding right?? The only goal of Hi Point firearms is to convince some poor sucker to buy their products. Their pistols are crap and I'm betting their rifles aren't any different. The "positive review" in the gun rags is merely lip service paid out by some clown who was given a free rifle and still needed an article to publish. Coming out and calling the rifle crap. Doesn't fill two pages in the latest issue. Come to think of it. When was the last time you ever read a negative review in a gun rag??? Right, never...

I'm hoping you have enough knowledge and experience to write a book about Hi-Point with a review like that.
Ugly, yes. But do they work? I've heard they do from many people. Just because something is ugly doesn't means it's worthless.
Not to mention that they are made in the US and I'd buy a Hi-Point just to support the American economy as opposed to sending more money China's way.
If you don't like it, don't buy it. That's the reason I don't own a Chinese gun.
When was the last time you heard of something quality being made in China?
That's what I thought.
Take a look around. No self respecting LE agency, Military, or competitive shooter owns or uses Hi Point products. They retail for less than the cost of a good belt and holster. For some, that's called a clue..
No where did I promote or proclaim that I would purchase a Chinese built firearm. That being said, the Norinco products are light years ahead of the Hi-Point crap. If you read my signature line you'll see where my money goes, and it isn't to China.
The aesthetics of a firearm are not my concern. I don't purchase firearms based on their appearance. I look for reliability, quality construction, and ergonomics. The "reviews" printed in the monthly rags are nothing more than one guys personal opinion. Again, their opinions are often slanted thanks to free product. Those companies who offer quality products will naturally rise to the top. Hi Point is not one of those companies.

Now, would I buy a Hi Point Pistol - NO - but would I buy a hi point carbine as a fun plinker - Yes - if the price was right....
