Hiring Firearm Assembler in Barrie, Ontario

Maybe you should just close down if you can’t afford to pay reasonable wages for skilled labour…

This is not the first advert of yours offering poverty wages, honestly less than loblaws.

I won’t be shopping with you guys now that i know what you pay your staff.

Haha, they did say entry level and no prior experience required. You want them to pay $40 an hour for that? You shop at loblaws? lol

I live too far away but would certainly be interested if I lived in Barrie as I’m retired. Bonus that my daughter works damn near beside them and I hadn’t noticed they were there the last time I visited. I’ll certainly drop in and say hello next time I’m in town.

Our benefits package is valued at an additional $2/hr, the store is a hell of alot cleaner and more comfortable than a DQ, our generous staff discount helps buy more pews (although I can see the appeal of cheap ice cream lol), and our customers are all like-minded folks so the daily traffic to our store provides good conversation and great company.

Its an entry level job that is not at all demanding and there is room to grow and take on more responsibility (and more pay) for the motivated and responsible individual. Plus the wage is negotiable based on skills and experience like anything else.

Thanks for sharing your opinion anyways, I will give it some careful consideration.
Yeah, but do you have ice cream?

If this is what you qualify as "Skilled labour" I am curious as to what your skill set is...

A PAL and firearms experience isn’t entry level, no matter what they want to class it as.
Brinks/Garda don’t pay much more, they also require a PAL and class 5 license and it’s a significantly more dangerous job that doesn’t really require much specialized experience. Also a PAL isn’t really a hard thing to get, it’s only a 2 day course at most, not much different than forklift training, transporting dangerous goods, or other small tickets/certifications. I’d say for $22/hr with benefits to assemble rifles is a lot better than dealing with Karens and awful managers/companies in retail/grocery/fast food or lifting 50lb+ boxes at a warehouse all day.

Clearly you're their target employee then, but anyone your (grand?) daughters age would have a more realistic view.
You should open a gun shop in today's climate and we can laugh at you trying to operate it and staff people. They have a right to employ people for that wage, and if people don't apply they can change.
I'm sure you'd immediately pay 40$/hour for the same job and then when someone asks how much to sight a scope in and they laugh at your price, you'll be upset with them too lol.
This is a posting for a job, not for you to cry about what THEY are doing and also they pay for this forum to stay up and running, unlike you.

Deductions in Ontario at this wage are nearing 30% with zero dependants. At $22 per hour for 45 hours / week this equals out to roughly $16/hour NET. This isnt including benefits.

LOL, people act like a PAL is some kind of holy grail.

Any moron that can read can pass the test and get a PAL.
This is just to assemble firearms and to coordinate with the other teams in the store. With coordinating with the other teams it sounds like no customer service experience required either.

Full time employment being 28+ to a max of 37.5 hours a week at a lot of retail establishments doesnt exactly foster a liveable situation either. If this independent retail establishment offers hours similar to their stores' hours of operation (45) and a bit flexible that makes it a bit better.
