The MR series are better rifles than the military 416 line. The barrels (on the originals) were not chrome-lined for a purpose, which was greater accuracy. The barrels are also "press-fitted" into the upper receiver's on the MR's, they are not on the 416 line. The rest of the components are exactly the same, minus the full-auto trigger parts.
The range in Vegas that ran and abused it complained about the barrel wearing out too fast. They were not concerned about accuracy in any way. Now the new MR's will have chrome-lined barrels, I suspect they will give up a bit of accuracy over the old ones.
AND yes I've shot thousands of rounds out of both models, including full-auto.

That is 1 rifle according to one range, and you make a conclusion on that??? Think harder.
The HK MR223 line is not missing any of the quality compared to most HK416 variants out there, they are right on par and in fact some of the MR variations surpass some of the 416 variants in different areas. It operates the same and virtually identical with most parts being able to interchange.
I would not hesitate to buy any version from the HK MR223,A1,A3 line if I were you. It doesn't really matter Chrome lined or not.
One bad barrel for a range that shoots like 25 meters distance with little to know detailed feedback on ammo used or if the barrel was just one bad batch or whatever.
Desert Tech MRD and FF MSBS? If you are going to buy a rifle in 2019. MSBS is not even going to be made in 2017 for civies, even if they decide it may have a future this year.
MR223A3 is in stock, and you can just walk into a gunshop and buy one.
x3m,
I think you are missing the point, the HK416 is not quality controlled any better than the MR series of rifles. The opposite is actually true.
HK's often do not require parts for a very long time. The new HK Canadian Distributor should be getting on with some of the parts and accessories people want for these guns.
Match Triggers and barrels are available and just need to be ordered. My Contact in HK Germany advises that MR 223 barrels are available for shipping and just simply need to be
ordered by the distributor. This is the same for match trigger parts kits as well.
The original HK MR 223's barrels were actually chambered in .223 Rem and not 5.56mm. All the 416 barrels were chambered in 5.56mm. Not sure about the new MR 223's with chrome-lined barrels.

x3m,
I would try Wolverine and get them to light a fire with North Sylva who should be taking care of this.
Not sure if North Sylva will deal with anyone who is not a dealer.

I own a MR223 and its a great firearm. I prefer it over the KAC sr15 mod 2. They are both extremely accurate but I find the MR223 more bulky and heavier, so less jump when shooting in the sitting/prone. The KAC is really light and jumps more then I expected. Both at the same price point now anyways. Might sell mine soon and move to a A3 model or the mr308g28.
