HK MR308 has arrived

Ok I know this has been done before but here goes the broken record again...

HK is very civillian friendly.
Over the past several decades they have gone out of their way to produce civillian friendly variants of their military and law enforcement products.
They have done this when they did not have to.
They have a small factory (in classic european fashion)
Their big money and focus has always been on selling large orders to friendly governments (including the homeland, Germany).
They are "handcuffed" by federal German Law regarding the sale and export of "Weapons of War" to the general public.
Therefore, they have to specially design civillian versions of their military guns in-order to comply with Federal German Law.
What a pain in the butt, Why bother, why not say to heck with that crap? and focus on your primary business?
No....they go out of their way and do it for us.
Now before everyone gets upset and starts bashing the HKSL8's you need to know that that gun was designed to comply with the US "Assault Weapons" ban, a few years back, to allow for import. At that time you could only have a few "Restricted Features", remember the AR's with no collapsing stocks or flash hider's? Hence the thumb-hole stock that no-one seems to like.
Now before some of you out there start to cry, let's talk about spare parts and support for the product.
This has largely to do with who is selling / importing / has exclusive rights to, the line in Canada (or anywhere else).
I have been to many gun stores in the States that have ample spare parts for HK's including match triggers ect.
I will accept the argument against HK here, if customers are not happy with "said company" then HK should make a change for someone better to support the customer in the market / country. This type of change can be difficult and there may be a dissconect with the consumer and HK on this one.

The argument could be made to HK that the civillian market (in the US for sure) is massive and they should continue to bend over backwards to keep redesigning and making these civillian friendly, exportable guns. At the same time an argument could be made saying why bother, let's just concentrate on our large Military and Law Enforcement markets / contracts.

Am I the only one who get's tired of hearing people complain about price...to expensive...not worth it...I've handled it and I think the AR's better...crap?
GET OVER IT. If you don't want a BMW then buy a chev. If you think the chev is better than the BMW good for you.

THe KAC is not any cheaper than HK.....but you know, Chris Costa Christianized SR15/SR25 so all is good. People used to bash KAC for hating the civilians too.

And people are dishing out 4000 for FS2000 and over 3000 for a PS90.

And there are people who openly stated that they will drop 5000 bucks on a Swiss Arms SAPR!???

I seriously do not understand what this is all about. It is just pure HK bashing for no reason.

The only thing HK fails here is marketing, not necessarily their products or price points. If they can get Chris Costa to shoot a HK in every magpul video, I bet people will say differently.

HK are ####ty marketers.

You can get HK parts. I order them from Wolverine and even though it takes about 10 months you will get them. I love my HK pistols and luckily they are pretty tough. Do some research find out what common parts are needed and order a few for your kit. Every couple of years if you use them order more.

I am surprised by the number of HK pistols we get here and they seem more willing to do a 106mm barrel than many US manufacturers. The HK rifles don't appeal to me but if one can afford it, why not??? If you find a rifle for less that fulfills your needs that's cool too.

It's too bad we can't get parts from US but HK in Germany will, just be patient.

HK are s**tty marketers.

I always thought HK was one of the best marketers. They have their guns on the cover of every tom clancy video game actually just about every fps game out there. Not only that it seems their firearms are always in the hands of actors in movies. Then again maybe I just have an eye for HK firearms since I would consider myself a HK fanboy to some extent even though currently I only own a USP.

what epps has usc's? Wtf i put an order in with wolverine 11 months ago and i still don't have mine.

Edit: If Epps just got theirs.... Maybe Wolverine have theirs as well. But they are on Vacation until Jan 5th. Yours might be sitting there!!

I can't phone I have a non refundable deposit with the one with Wolverine. I just hope they have it when they open up again on the 5th of January. They told me that for sure it would be there in January.

10 months doesn't count as getting parts. It's better than infinite months... but only a little bit. I waited a mere 8 months for the cam pin on an SL8. Couldn't shoot it during that time.

Great guns, just hard to service in Canada.

I don't understand the USC fever sweeping the CGN forums these days. Lots of dealers had them in 2007, and the things didn't sell quickly. I had one for sale on the EE, fired 200 rounds, for $1650, and the thing sat forever. Traded it in the end against a SAN CQB.

Negative on Call of Duty. I haven't even played a COD game. But I do have all the parts necessary to build a UMP clone and I just want a HK subgun since I can't have a MP5. I would have bought one in 07 but I didn't have the cash to buy such things then. Since then I make about 4 times the salary I used to so I can afford it.

When something becomes unobtainium demand builds up. Maybe in 2007 a stocking dealer might have sold 1 or 2 per month, but after 2+ years of waiting there could be hundreds of people who want them.

The only downside of the MR308 is the magazine, which is proprietary.

The initial cost is bad, but not as bad as the 8000 bucks KAC. The killer is the price of 7.62 ammo at 850 dollars a case. There is no way I can get proficient if I have to piss away 300 bucks per range session.

I would rather spend 4000 on a HK223, at least I can still barely afford to shoot it.....

The retail on a SR-25 Carbine is recommended $6,200 - and next years gun we expect to have at a cheaper rate than that...

The SR-25 Rifle is $5,000 recommended retail.

If you don't like the price in Canada, get another importer...

$4,000 for a MR308 is IMHO a great price
