You can go about importing a C parts kit, but goddamn if that's not just be like burning money at that point.
Yes all mags will work fine after the modification. G36, SL8, and of a mag well conversion for STANAG (AR15) mags is installed they will work fine too.

This tab notched out in sl8 vs g36 mags is why you must remove tab from receiver.
If you use P mags you can notch the mag instead of the gun, they are also way cheaper than HK mags

It’s being rereleased for the US market. That’s the SL8-6. We have the SL8-4 and SL8-5 but the 6 is legal here too, just less desirable due to being single stack mags and modified bolt head. None of the magwell adapters fit, none of the aftermarket mags nor G36 mags fit.
Hey Guys, i've been looking for a gunsmith who can strip down my SL8. I was wanting to have the gun refinished and coated but i need to find someone with the proper tools and knowledge to do so. I am located on Vancouver Island in BC but often go over to Vancouver. I'm also not opposed to shipping but that's just another added expense. Thank you for everyone's help!

Does anyone have any experience fitting hkey slimline handguards to SL8s?
Thinking of buying one but there’s no info out there on how to modify the gas block to make it fit.

Slimline G36 handguards do not fit over the SL8 gas block.
And there isn’t any other gas block option. Grinder? lol.
Only other option is to replace the entire barrel.
G36 barrels are direct bolt on’s, and they balance the rifle a little better with less mass up front. Accuracy usually goes down.
