HK USC to UMP conversion

Just noticed this on page one.
Anybody ever see a flat top usc...?

I am thinking of doing that and adding these sights along with the MP5 stock.

I'm planning to get a UMP Navy lower in the next few days, but I have one concern. The navy has the Full Auto position on the receiver. I know that I'll be using USC internals but am a little concerned that someone that isn't educated in the UMP/USC process may jump to conclusions and think I have a fully-auto weapon. Does anyone know if there is a chemical that will remove the red paint on the receiver without melting it? Any input would be appreciated.

hi guys,

With regards to using acetone to remove the FA pictogram, I don't think its quite as easy as the posters on page 17 makes it out to be. I got some 100% acetone from the drug store and have been wiping diligently - the bright red has been wiped off and only a dull crimson remains. However, the paint appears be quite thick, and the area appears to be heat stamped, or slightly recessed, as the paint removed has now left a little depression that could be re-filled with red paint, or another colour - black I suppose. I tried using a stiff-bristled toothbrush and a barrel cleaner with acetone to try to remove the residual paint but to no avail. Anyone have this experience or any insight?

Look around p.17 oneaone explains it very well. I get regular looks on mine but as the internals are USC there is no law that says you can't paint mushroom clouds on the side.

It it bothers you the pictograms can be removed.

Yes, I have. You need to put more effort and more acetone into the action. It will come off, but it takes a bit of time, and because acetone tends to evaporate, you need to keep adding it. Yes, the area is slightly recessed, you should be able to clean the edges up with a little razorblade lightly run over the icon. You will probably not be able to remove all traces of it, however the point is to remove enough that people don't notice it and give you grief over it. Or you could just rock out with your glock out and tell people it's just for show.

I inquired with them about my Storm (not knowing that they did the USC too) and they told me that I would have to send the rifle to them and it could take 2 - 3 months from start to finish. How did you get one sent to you?

I had them rebarrel it before I took possession of it.

Dlask may be quicker on the rebarreling, they use Lothar Walther Blanks, same price as Epps (better barrel), Send in the rifle, two month turnaround.

I like your idea of the flat top with MP5 sights CNADNSL8.
You should get the short barrel and the flash hider as well if your going that route.

Here is some #### in the mean while. The Hera mags look and feel really nice,
I hope they shoot as good.

eskimo, looks great. what kind of accuracy you getting, at say 25 yds with the longer barrel. if you re-register the gun as non restricted with the longer barrel, will you have to turn in the short barrel the same way as one would have to when converting a prohib pistol to restricted?

I'd say no. Restricted barrels themselves are not registered and can be purchased without any special requirements. So there would bo no point in turning in the first one.
