HK MR556 Modifications and Upgrades - Are these Heckler and Koch rifle upgrades worth it

Gorgeous rifle!

I'm "guessing" that's it a collaboration between TB and HK Parts, there were a few "blems" on GB, that went for about $995?
From what I'm reading, most customers feel they are "overpriced", however there are alot of improvements over the Titan upper, off the top of my head, rail height is now the same as HK, the piston has rings, and I believe that the bolt is compatible, GB is vented?

Well IMO, like Colt, the barrel is the "corner stone" of the 416 upper.

gone through a few iterations but this is the current way i have it set up, yes the trs 25 is too low and i intend to replace it down the road with a lower 1/3 aimpoint t1 but its not priority right now, the dbal is fake and on there purly because i feel more badass while operating in my undies, and its my bag sweat that paid for it so ill do what i want lol

Nice. Badass setup man. Excellent rifle.

I sincerely hope that you guys with the 10.4" HK Parts.net barrels on your MR223s have enjoyed better accuracy than I did. The fit/finish and overall appearance were excellent, however practical accuracy was in the toilet with 4" to 6", 5-round groups at 40 yards, benched with a 4-power optic and a variety of good quality commercial ammo. Not even "minute of pie-plate" at 100 yards! I was so disappointed in the conversion barrel that I sold it with full disclosure at a significant loss on the EE. I could not rationalize having a $4k carbine that looked bad-ass but couldn't hit a barn wall from spitting distance. Maybe these new complete uppers have decent barrels, but it is definitely "caveat emptor" when dealing with aftermarket barrels other than the well-respected name brands. Of course, YMMV....

mie is about that. evenm at 25 yards with my acog on its best group was probably 2 1/4" at best but i knew the bad rap these had before buying it. my rational is although i can afford a real hk mr, at the end of the day its a 4k+ paper puncher. i dont compete, bench shooting bores me to tears, so paying that kind of dough just doesn't seem responsible. its kind of why i sold my tavor, i paid 3300 for it and the norinco m4 i paid 575 for out shot it, and i love ARs, where as the tavor was just an impulse buy to get something different, but i digress

the main range i go to is 100 yards and i usually dont bother shooting the titan upper out past 50, usually more at 25 yards. sure its lame but in my mind having a gun i can only shoot at the range is already lame enough so for a decrease in accuracy and a big decrease in price it was a situation i was willing to accept. now if we lived in the states id have a real hk mr, sbr it and run a suppressor on it full time and in my opinion it would be worth every penny, but in can'tada.....

i have considered having a new barrel made for it in canada but once i factor the price i paid for the upper plus a new barrel, shipping and all that jazz i may as well kick in another grand and just get the real deal. maybe some day i will, but for now the titan upper, although shotgun accurate, makes me smile every time i look at it, and that counts for a lot in this country.

I consider myself a big time HK fanboy, but even I couldn't justify that type of accuracy. Good thing I waited on the Mr223A3 11' which I have on pre-order. Why didn't you guys just chop down the Mr223 barrel?

All the HK Germany barrels are made of special steel from France and are all cold hammer forged which means they are super stiff and extremely difficult to work with. Most gunsmiths will not touch it.

Because it is not legal to chop a restricted barrel.

because that would be illegal. once a barrel is under 18.5" it has to be manufactured that way, you cant cut it down. if the barrel was say 24" you could have it cut down to 18.6", but not below that.
