HKG36 V.S. m16 debate

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but do these 2 have the same bayonet lug/attachment? The reason I ask is that I have a few bayonets that I'm trying to ID, the are "made in Germany" and want to know if they are designed for the G36, or the M16. They do fit the M16. see links below. If someone could PM me with any info, would be great, thanks.

M16 has a NATO standard bayonet lug, as I suppose the G36 does. The bayonets in the photos are listed as SG550 bayonets, so that could be a clue. The second one however should also fit a NATO lug as it is designated as the SG550 NATO bayonet.

Reaper -- when I get back well have to video a CGN gun shoot off - with 1k from each weapon
G36C, SIG552, Hk416, Colt LE6921 (sorry I dont have a M4A1 yet).

I'm still weaselling an attempt for a Hk417 - but ...
I'll bring the AR180B. :D

I would honestly take an IMI Galil over any M16 any day. They are quite simply spectacular rifles. In my opinion the only area where the M16 beats the Galil is the mag release.

However, I would take an M4 over a G36, unless I was only owning it for ####s and giggles.

What I hear.....

An optional magazine adapter allows the use of 20- and 30-round M16 magazines. Unfortunately, the magazine wells of the semiautomatic and selective-fire Galils are of different dimensions and the adapter supplied by IMI can be fitted only to the semiautomatic version. Why this is so I do not know. However, the adapter is well-designed and the magazines can be inserted and released with no greater difficulty than in the M16.

A little wider than the question of G36 vs AR15, but...

If you're thinking of spending the money on Euro stuff, go Swiss. If you don't have that budget, go AR-180B or used AR15.

If I was forced to choose between the G36 and and AR15, I guess I'd have to go with the AR.

But that would only be if a Lee Enfield wasn't available, either. (They work - always).

The majority of folks here really seem to be satisfied with AR15's. In my 14 years of playing around on occasion with that rifle design, I have yet to find one that I like, but that's just me...

Many folks do call me contrary.

I'll bring a Savage 99 as the control standard gun.

That kind of test has way too many mag changes for me, black guns, blah:p

Mag Restriction...

I actually have almost 200 mags so I think we could do it in Canada -- but it may be easier with me to T up with Reaper when he heads over next time....

We could use an AK or VZ-58 (in auto :D ) as a control weapon

Well I had the opportunity while on course at HK to see the new HK 416 in action and use the G36K. Since no gas travels back to the bolt or the reciever the internal components stay very clean. The "top end" needs only a wipe down after firing several hundred rds.The guns that I used worked with no stopages at all. All in all I was very impreesed with the HK system. Not only the G36 but the 416 as well, just my $.02 cents

I LOATHE the G36 as a military weapon -- that said I am buying one as a civy...

The Hk416 is a very very sweet setup. I wish the 417 was a drop on upper for a SR-25 or AR10 though...
