HK's AR15

I prefer the HK 93, but I suppose it would be a cousin to the early AR 15 Sp1, rather than a brother to the newer hi-tech AR 15.

And it's a 12.5 gun, anyway, too.

 You're a wee bit behind the times there. The 416 is the new HK and it's not really much like an SP1 at all.

The comment was about the similarity of the Sp1 to the the HK 93.....

Both being Old School assault guns.

And ya, I like the old school ones............ because I'm OLD! :D

Short Gas Piston H&K416, you will never be able to own one. Unless they slip up again like the HKG36s :p

But there are a lot of other companies putting out their own piston AR uppers soon!

how come HK are such a bunch of dinks? If they opened their gear up to civi sales, i'd think that they'd boost their profits by a huge margin.

I'd say the chance of that happening is low. So long as you have to mortgage a vital organ to own a new HK, terrorists are going to stick to the $15 surplus AKs.

This has been discussed ad naseum on pretty much every gun-related discussion board on the internet. The simple truth is that German law prevents German gunmakers from selling "military style weapons" to civilians, including civilians in foreign counties. That is why HK had to come up with the bizarre-looking SL-8 instead of simply selling a semi-auto G36 – they wanted to make sure that their government does not go after their a$$ for selling "weapons of war" to the pubic. As of now, all HK's are made in Obendorf, Germany. The only way you'd see HK 416 in civilian hands is if they start making them in the States.
