Hodgdon's Reloading Data Center

Great, except doesn't have the info I'm looking for.
I plan to reload 9mm with 124gr plated berry's bullets and titegroup powder (hodgdon). They don't have 124gr plated round nose listed for titegroup....

What if they don't list the powder at all for what you are reloading? I am new to reloading and just picked up some 147 gr Berrys 9mm that I was hoping to use Win 231 for. If there is no load data for 231 and a 147gr projectile (lead, plated, jacketed or otherwise), what's a guy to do?

Perhaps that powder isn't suited for a projectile of that weight? Have you looked in other reloading manuals? Could always develop your own load just starting low and working up. Perhaps use some data for 130gr projectiles, subtract 10%, and go from there.

Buy a Lyman #49 manual? Not go by one source only?

Lyman's 49th shows:

147 Speer TMJ
Winchester W-231 3.5 @ 855 FPS
Remarks: sugg. start load; 23,000 cup

147 Speer TMJ
Winchester W-231 4.1 @ 957 FPS
Remarks: max load; 27,500 cup

Strange. I was going through the 375 H&H info on their site and the data has changed. Generally reduced loadings for the same powder and bullet weights.

I noticed this with several chamberings... Powder changes? or even more safety/antilawsuit reasons?

Try 3.9 to 4.2gr with OAL 1.10-1.11

Win 231=HP-38

I'm just getting started in reloading, I've been shooting for seven years at this point. I'm just about ready to reload my first few rounds, but I'd like to clear up some confusion first.

I have Lyman's 49th edition reloading manual, and when I compare some of the loads on this site with the ones in the book for the same bullet, I find that some of the powder measures are significantly different. (3.5 grains vs 4.7 for the starting load using Winchester 231 powder on a 115 grain bullet).

This fills me with concern, and leads me to ask two questions:

1. Are they both safe to use?
2. Why such a difference?
