I just recieved my Holosun HS403c which is one of the new models that features the solar panel on top of it. I am very impressed with the quality of it. I had an Aimpoint H1 and this feels and looks on par with the quality of the Aimpoint. I mounted it today and took it to the range and got it zeroed in and was very pleased. The dot is bright and crisp, and auto adjusts to the brightness outside. You can put it in manual mode and set the brightness but even it being a nice sunny day I had no need to turn it up. I tested out the solar option at home and even with the battery out and indoors with dim lighting the dot was bright and crisp. It has a auto turn off, and auto turn on that turns on with motion.. so you don't have to leave it on in your safe if you are one of those people.. it turns one once you pick it up and move it.

All in all I would buy another without any hesitation.. It is definitely much better then the Vortex red dot's I've had and other clones and cheaper red dots I've looked at in stores. It mounts on to any Aimpoint mount, but it comes with a high and low mount already.

I got it from Hoplite Tactical Supplies, they are a site sponsor and he was great to deal with.

Thanks for the review and the positive feedback. It was a pleasure to have dealt with you.

Overall I have to fully agree with your assessment, and everyone that I've shown these to have either scooped them up on the spot or have also been impressed enough to be seriously considering the sight.

Where did you purchase this sight?

He got it from here, not many left at this point, and if you get in before I change out the description I'll honour the pre-order bonus ;).

There's also the 403G, which I have to get on a postal scale but it may just come in a bit lighter without the solar tech.

You will probably see an order from me soon for one. I already have the 403G version but like the idea of solar panel.
Where is the battery located on the 403C, bottom or side? ?

Solar powered with alternate battery power, very very interesting. Is the battery accessible from the top? Where there is the knob?
And does it come with the co-witness mount?

Side.

Battery compartment pulls out via the side and the door is retained via two screws, there is no battery compartment knob like on the 403G. If you're asking about the elevation and windage they're on the top and right side respectively.

Comes with two mounts, low mount and co-witness.

what kinda recoil can these ones handle?
just for the .223 crowd or will it handle .30 cal ...... I'm thinkin 303 british

thoughts?

All of the 403 line are rated for multi calibers from a poodle shooter to 12g and 308. Got to get the scope mounts on the site still but these are useful as a scope mounted red dot and meant for the hunting crowd as well (for those close in fast I have no time to turn from 9x power kind of moments).

The battery compartment has a little rubber oring around it too which is supposed to make it water resistant. Like I said, it seems like a great product and at a 3rd the cost of an Aimpoint. I'm usually totally against clones as they're never on par with quality and time will tell I guess how this stands up but I'm very happy with it.

Must be behind the times, first I've even heard of this sight. I like what I'm hearing and I will be placing an order once I'm back at my desk top in the morning. Thanks for the review.

Thanks for the review Matty308!!
I've looked at these a few times. I just thought the solar panel recharged the battery. I didn't realize it would run without a battery! Sweet!! Really like the idea of the motion on function too. Gotta get one of these to try out! Thanks!
