I don't see 308 stripper clips on the Marstar site, the GAR-058 in the link is for 30-06.

Also, "Front sight may lean slightly (indexing)." - really?

Finally, in the photo the "wood is not colour matched" appears to have a black forend, not sure if it is wood or plastic. These are $1600 "collectibles".

I saw that, and while I'm tempted..... $1700 is a bit rich for my blood.....

$1400, and I'd be in debt!

I was momentarily tempted too...but it looks like the only option [already!] are the $1600 pieces. I know it's blasphemy to say this, but I think my NR .308 semi-auto needs are filled by my M-308...esp. at that price. Under a G, I'd be checking my Mastercard balance.

1600 bux hahahahaha
one thing I can say for sure about the Canadian firearms community..... it sure is a fuggen money train for the firearms importers.
I'm gonna take a HUGE pass, I've learned my lesson here

They have some M305s with canted sights too... assembled at same plant?

I was considering it ,be nice to have a 308 to sit beside my Springfield. .but the bank account has other priorities right now.

Considered it for a few minutes but my wife remained me that the s&w wheel gun, 1911 and Browning Superpose destroyed my budget for this month and perhaps the next. Have to see what August brings but by then they would be sold out at Marstar and doubled the price on EE.

For something you are going to shoot a lot, M305 for $600 or less is a better option.
For an uncommon Italian make work project cobbled together from spare parts that costs $1700 that will sit in your safe untouched.... these are great.
I'd rather see converted 308 M1's that share everything with the 30'06 version, then shortened op-rods and handguards.

1700$ for a garand with poorly indexed barrel sounds ridiculously overprice to the point it is insulting. I think the worse is people bought them all anyway and this mean prices will increase dramatically next time: offer and demand.

The Garand rifles use the same enbloc clip regardless of whether the rifle is chambered for .308 or 30-06.

I'm wondering if these rifles have the block in the front of the magazine well so that 30-06 rounds can't be inadvertently loaded into the magazine.

Some people have lots of money, common sense, and Garands. Sorry its not you.

My initial remarks were intended to be satirical; sorry I didn't make that sufficiently clear for you.

In any case, the fact that there has been considerable debate about the possible quality and provenance of these rifles, and several people mentioning that the price was out of their range, AND YET they sold like hotcakes...indicates to me that my remarks, however satirical, weren't particularly inaccurate.

heard lots of complaints in another thread. would a guy be better off just to get one from fulton armory?

Fulton Armory will have match grade barrels and parts that are widely available. If your looking at this platform would highly recommend getting one from then instead of these surplus models.
