Holy S#*T stocks are expensive

Thanks for the replies. I have considered choate but I've read they are better suited to larger hands. Yes/No?

I also like the Roberson Comp. Tac model but when you add up inletting, riser, stock etc. it costs even more than the Mcmillan. I'd really like to keep the price down a bit.

Please keep the reviews coming! Does anyone use the XLR???

Another vote for Robertson Composites. If you like the A5, then check out their Tac- very close, but a tad slimmer, and stiffer. Delivery times are getting to be really good with them, and you can order whatever extras you wish. They start on this side of the border too, so there's less hassle, and no middle man.

But no lefty in the tac model. :(

WHY IAN, WHY!?!?!?!?

:D

I asked in another thread about JAE stocks (see Wolverine), but no one seem to have any info/interest on them :p

*edit* but then, those might be Remy700 specific, so you wouldn't care either ;)

Didn't you carry these? JV I thought I saw one of your adds with it. Don't see it any more. Price?

Just a to add it's LOOOONGGGGG wait time for some stocks from Microfit. Last one I order took nearly a 8 months before it was shipped. An be prepared to do some sanding and inletting before your able to even get it to work.

Meh. Just an excuse to find a stellar deal on the EE for a barrel and an action. :D

firemachine69,

Sure we can do a lefty in the TAC model. For another comment, I think if you compare option to option we are about the same cost as the other guys but with better delivery and better quality.

Whats the pricing on your TAC stocks Ian???

.

I was curious, when I saw the post about them being more expensive than the import.
So I went to Ian's website, and checked. The prices for all the various stocks are there, along with the prices for all the options.

Maybe I totaled up everything wrong on the robertson because it's priced separably. I really do like their Tac model and through all my reading they get rave reviews. Are they ok for smaller hands?

This is how I figured pricing am I wrong?

Tac model basic =375 one colour
Adj cheek piece = 128 installed
Butt spacer sys = 177 plus32 for instal =209
Inletting 144
Total 856

Mcmillian

A5 498 minus 50 (sale price found) =448
saddle cheekpiece installed =116
2 way adj butt sys = 116
inletting included
Total 680

in all fairness the cheek sys is much nicer "built in" on the RC (IMO) and I imagine shipping would be a bit more but still a fair price difference unless I've made a mistake somewhere?

Yeah, I realized this AFTER the duties on my McM. Total cost came out to something like almost $1100. And I was pretty limited in choice, wanting a Savage inlet on a bench/"tactical" style (only the A5 model, only the basic cheek riser, etc.)

Unless I get one of the Microfit stocks, I'm 99% sure I'll be ordering from you instead.

Is that price landed in Canada? Shipping will be more from the US and there may be customs charges and/or duty on the A5 that you don't pay on the Robertson stock.

Under NAFTA there is no duty to be charged for a Made in the USA product. You'll only have to pay GST owing as per the invoiced purchase price and the $5.00 Canada Post handling fee for collecting the GST; assuming, of course, that you make sure it is shipped by USPS and not a courier.

With the dollar at parity essentially, buying in the US has become much more attractive and USPS shipping rates are typically cheaper than shipping the same parcel from Newfoundland to BC.

I'd take another look at the Robertson, however, they make exceptional stocks, but if you want a McMillan, you should do what will make you happy, as it is your build.
