Home Self Defence Suggestions

The rulings which apply to canadians as far as defending one self and property benefit the intruder for in the back of our minds we know we will be punished if we defend our selfs and or harm the intruder this gives the intruder the upper hand
In a situation where one is threatened you may only have a second to determine your fate
all the nattering on this subject is just that unless you have been in this position making comments about wasp spray and this and that is just that fictional comments
until you have had a gun or a knife held in your face you are a tough guy

I made the decision years ago (long before i had kids, and the oldest is 30 now) that if you come on my property with the intent to harm me or my loved ones, I will do everything in my power to stop you. Where that begins and ends is really up to the perpetrator. Self defense is a complex conversation, and preparation is an even more complex problem to solve. If you aren't comfortable with the idea of using a firearm to defend yourself and your family, then it should not be part of the equation until you have rationalized that within yourself. For myself, living rural, we have defense in depth, which includes, distance, physical deterrents, 2 dogs (including a 150 lb LGD) and other layers. You should never rely on a single strategy for protection.

Might as well just offer them your money, belongings and potentially your life because any use of non or lethal force will end in you going bankrupt in the courts trying to justify what ought not have to be justified. RCMP would much rather give each other high fives and bum slaps for solving your murder than let you defend yourself or property. From what I understand you automatically get charged and have your firearms seized then it’s up to you to prove innocence.

Well, if you vote Liberal, or did in the past???????????????????????????

Liberals love crime, as it helps them to peddle their rhetoric.

They have no intention to try to lower crime rates.

It's all part of their strategy to prove they are in total control of the plebes and make them believe they are protecting their interests/lives?

Straight out of Chairman Mao's Red Book.
Kidding right though it’s easy to con a older person specially if your a master

Besides screens ,bars etc on windows and good locks on doors your first form of defence should be an alarm system that warns you that someone has entered your home.Nothing else matters if your asleep as they gain entry to your home .Second should be cameras that record any event especially if you choose to defend yourself as if things go sideways you would need proof that you defended yourself with in reason.Third how you defend yourself is up to you but if you cross the line you could end up with a costly legal battle and end up in jail yourself
Well from all the responses which I greatly appreciate I think a bigger dog like German shepherd is the only answer most of them hate dogs,
I often think if they were aloud to have one as a kid they would grow up more balanced.
Just my opinion

Sounds like you are not educated on dogs and just based your opinion on msn.

My 40lb staffy will drag you down the stairs. Big dogs don't always mean vicious. My 100lb mastiff was scared of my father. Would not even get close to him. She carries a toy in her mouth all the time.

Friend was a corrections officers and most theifs avoid houses with any dogs. As bites lead to infections. Then the noise. All my dogs came from shelters and zero had any aggression to children. Even when they came running, screaming and aggressively petting without asking me.

Years ago when I had a mid size barky dog it detered a break in. My neighbours on either side of me got ransacked but not my place . I was working midnights and was home but sleeping. I heard my dog going nuts but she did that if a squirrel was in the yard. Found out later from the neighbours they had been robbed.
