has anyone made a gun/rod rack that fits on a tubular atv rack if so so me some pics and tell what its made of.thanks

I know you said homemade but it's hard to go wrong with the Kolpin gun boot. I even adapted one to my Argo.

The pvc pipe will likely wear the finish off on your gun. Unless you line it with something. I like the idea on the post above . Putting a hinge on the gun boot.

a gun boot is somewhere around $60 I think, dont even waste your time making one. I have a kolpin boot on my quad for 5 years and its tough as nails.

We buy the cheap wally world single gun case for around $15-20 and mount it onto a board that is mounted onto rear and front rack beside driver. The case can be mounted flat or standing length wise. No picture as both bikes still in storage and too busy rebuilding big red fork tubes. I will make this same set up on the big red and no it is not a safety issue, just a cheap quick system.

I have the Kolpin gun boot, nothing special imo. I'd suggest saving some bucks and buying the $14.99 hard case CND tire sells and mounting it somehow, even a few U bolts laying around would work.

that's all i did was just get the cheap hard plastic case and u-bolted it to the front rack. works awesome and fast access. Make sure you look in your local regs before you get the fin grips. A lot of places require firearms to be encased while on an atv.

I like the gun boots, but gun access is faster with a gun rack, which is why I want a rack. Where the heck can you buy them? does Crappy Tire sell gun racks?

for $34.95 a set from Bass Pro Canada,
i bought two sets of the Mad Dog
bow/gun fin racks as seen in the picture above.
They are a "U" shaped rubber fin'd
They are dirt simple and work great.
Great for shotguns, rifles, bows and shovel.(beaver dam digger)
they have a rubber snubber for maximum retention,
but its generaly not required.

I have almost the same ones....got them from the Polaris dealer..they work great. I put a gun sock on my guns to keep the mud/chit off them.

WARNING...if you hunt on a cattle farm...the cows love to chew off the snubbers...b@stards. ;)

Thanks for pointing that out. I had never thought of it until you brought it up. I have seen people with them on their ATV's here, So I am guessing it is legal. But how would I check to make certain?
