I was thinking of doing this myself, but the none oil lanolin, do you all heat it so its an oil or use the solid and make monkey milk as some called it?
If some is stuck to the bottom, it's OK. There is still a large amount in solution. I aimed for 12:1 too.
When I bought my alcohol , the drugstore didn't have 99% iso but they did have 95% ethanol. This takes a few moments to evaporate, but still works very very well.
The liquid lanolin I bought at a local health foods store. I've only used a teensey bit.
Bag balm and other solid forms are anhydrous lanolin and will precipitate out of solution at room temperature. Best to keep bag balm for super soft hands. Or get some on your fingers and apply directly to the brass.
