Well I finally got to shoot my rifle beyond 300 yards and I was very happy with the results. I set up at 100 yards and zeroed my rifle. I then moved to the 500 meter/550 yard range and dialed my scope up 11.5 moa and left .5 moa and shot this group. I had about a 10 mph tailwind. My very first shot is the one in the black.

I was pleased and surprised that I was able to see all my bullet holes with my 8-32 Sightron. My largest group was 5.5" and my smallest was just under 2.5". I shot 3 groups, and my 14 year old son shot 2. The average for the 5 groups was 3.75".

Here is my rifle

It is a custom Remington 700 with a Rock Creek barrel chambered in 308. It is sitting in an AICS with a Jewel trigger. The rifle was put together by Rick and the guys at Alberta Tactical Rifles.

The load I used for this range trip was 155 gr Berger Hunting VLDs pushed by some RL-15.

Nice shooting, nice rifle, the guys over at ATRS do awesome work they did me a rifle and just cant say enough good about it. Hope you get many thousand's of rounds of enjoyment out of it.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I am really hoping to enter the PGW Western Canada F-Class competition next summer and I now have a little more confidence that I won't embarrass my self if I do compete.

Very nice grouping.

How were conditions? Always enjoyable to see the gun holds ~.5-1MOA out at distance.

Now to reach out further =)

I had about a 10 mph tailwind that was switching back and forth from about the 7 o'clock to 5 o'clock positions. It was slightly overcast and about 28 Celsius. My 5.5" group was definitely ruined by the wind. 4 shots were in a nice cluster around 3".

Excellent shooting.

See if you can get some larger black targets or wear centers. Cut them into black squares. Staple the black square onto a larger sheet of paper and then put your cross hairs on a corner. A square corner makes a very precise aiming mark. The size of the square depends on distance. Looks like this:

At 100 yards, a patch works just fine

If the square is big enough, you can shoot a group at each corner.
