Does anyone have a Hornady load manual that has data for loading 115gr. HAP bullets for 9mm? When i use data from manuals I have the COL is too long to cycle in a CZ75. The depth I have to seat the bullets has me concerned about pressure problems.

search" hodgdon load data " EX; 700x @ 3.8gr /115gr RNL, works well as will your happy bullets,, seat bullets deeper.. remove barrel, test fit unloaded rd into chamber, seat bullet untill rear of bullet is flush with barrel ( or barrel shroud to its maximum depth).. measuring tools may be required to establish brass max length(not to long) and total length of COL..1.100" -1.125".. the depth of seating will depend solely on the design of bullet (round, blunt, pointy)
good luck and happy plinking

"...concerned about pressure problems..." Don't be. The OAL doesn't affect pressure.
Hodgdon gives 1.100" for a 115 cast RN and 1.125" for a jacketed bullet. Load your's to fit the magazine. 'Off the lands' doesn't apply to handgun cartridges.

sunray, this "IS" the "DUMBEST" thing you have ever said in this forum. The deeper a bullet is seated into the case the less internal volume the case has and the chamber pressure will be higher. "WHY" do you think the manuals tell you to decrease your powder charge by 1 or 2 grains when using military 7.62 cartridge cases that have "LESS" internal volume.

Do you spend any time reloading and reading the manuals or do you spend all your time sitting at the computer shooting the $hit? Do you have any idea how many gullible young and inexperienced reloaders might believe you and jack up chamber pressures?

Below are the pressures of two .223/5.56 cases with the same seating depth and powder charge, "BUT" these cases have two grains of H2O internal case capacity. Case capacity and seating depth "DOES" matter and sunray you need to read "MORE" and post "LESS"!

The link below is a very good read for anyone who reloads for a pistol. ;)

How to determine Max OAL for a CZ Pistol

Quote from link.

"• Secondly, when bullet makers tell us, use XYZ length as an OAL what they are saying is, "This is what we used and the results we got." They are NOT saying this is the "perfect OAL", or that their OAL will work in every gun, or that they think this is some kind of "perfect", never-fail, always-feed-correctly dimension. Far from it. If you'll read your manual you'll discover that this ammo testing takes place in "test barrels". This is, a huge block of steel, bolted to a table top, with all sorts of meters and gauges hanging off of it. It is a "gun", but it is NOT a pistol, and it is MOST DEFINITELY not auto loading. It's a single shot hunk of steel."

Even if the OAL data is from a auto loading pistol when you read the link you will see the chambers and throats vary by manufacture. You will also find that OAL is adjusted and "tuned" to get better accuracy. ;)

No it's not and that is a problem as he is going to be responsible for injuring or killing someone some day.

I don't know why he is allowed to post his crap on this forum as I am sure when he is sued for what must be deliberate misdirection the forum owner will also be named in the claims for damages.

Thank you, I normally skip over sunrays postings and try and keep my blood pressure normal and may have missed his dumbest posting.

A word of warning for all of you that look for information in forums, right now at castboolits.com their is a poster by the name of mutigunner posting information. The problem with his postings is mutigunner doesn't cast bullets or even have a reloading press, he simply reads postings in other forums and then passes this information off as his own. I caught him several times asking a question in one forum so he could answer it in another. He even admitted in one of his "question" postings that he hasn't reloaded since 1982 and that was with a Lyman nut cracker hand tool similar to a simple Lee loader with a powder scoop, sad but true.

Cover you A$$ and cross check anything you read in forums from printed reliable information.

Exactly. I agree, however once the depth of bullet is determined COL it will be between 1.100 - 1.250'' ,, standard factory cartridge fit all types of guns,, YOU must determine which works best for you.

Thanks the link biged51, just the info I was looking for.

Wow! So no one has a copy of Hornady's loading manual. This is what's wrong with the web in general, people just go off on some bizarre direction and others just follow.

Well just buy the hornady handbook or get load data online, seriously. Cant give it to you right now i Am far from home

The problem with Hornady 9mm HAP bullets is they are not actually made for 9x19 loading (even though they do work). The Hornady manual does list loads for 115gr HP XTP (9th ed) using a COL of 1.075". I had 1000 rounds of 124gr 9mm HAP and had a hell of a time working out a good load. I found using the XTP data as a starting point worked very well.

Kryogen, I have a stack of load manuals just not a Hornady. Yes I should and will at some point buy Hornady's manual if I keep using their products. Seriously!? I'm attempting to get the info on line, is that not what I asked for here? Hornady, and all companies who make reload products, should have a data base online and not expect everyone to run out and buy their load manual for the a couple loads. Does their total business profile rely on the sell of $50.00 manuals, or repeat sales of their other products. Ccain I have used the XTP data and also used the info for setting OAL listed previously and have found a reasonable load that just needs some fine tuning. 1.075 to 1.100 chamber fine and show no signs of pressure with several powders, now I just have to send more rounds down range and pick which is most accurate. HS6 and N350 seem to group not bad. Universal sends out some flyers. Thanks for the info everyone.
