Hornady 220 gr Round Nose bullet in the 30-06 actual hunting experience?

I know this is about 220 gr. but has anyone tried these in the 06 ?

those ones are crazy i know an hunter that needed only one for shooting a big male bison. i m not good at evaluating size but he s was very old and fat ...
it was in a 30-06

Quite frankly, I did not know that there were two generations - so to speak - of Hornady .30 caliber 220 grain round nose bullets. Before Interlock and after Interlock - it seems.

The fact is that we cannot know too much about rifle hunting bullets or target bullets. So, I am staying tuned on this thread and I am quite sure that I can learn something new about these bullets.

FYI - my copy of Hornady 9th manual shows 5 powders in 30-06 getting at least 2,500 fps with these bullets (page 445) in their 23 3/4", 1-10" twist, Winchester Model 70. Fed 210 primers, Hornady/Frontier cases. H4350, IMR 4350, H4831, IMR 4831 and RL-19

the only way to find out is cutting in half to see the design of each. but i will trsut more the first top box than the other.
 
I have never hit anything with them but accuracy is great, loaded with 57.5 grains of H4831, velocity is over 2500. I need to try them on bears and baiting here in Ontario, I am sure they will be fine.
 
that gives me an idea for this spring about bullets testing in the 30-06 for 220 grains only less to shoot and of course less jugs to haul lol

Looking forward to seeing the results of this test! Never got what they offered over other designs/weights so this may be illuminating :)

Thanks very much, saskcop. That's what I am wondering about, actual experience on game. Sounds like they held together just fine when started off at 2500+ fps.

What range was the shot? Were any of the bullets recovered at all?

I was going to say, yes if it is a job that a 180gr soft point can't handle, it seems tough to beat a 200gr partition with anything!
