I think the hornady dies will do it without modification.
Well, my wrong. I use the .375 Ruger to reform it as .280 Ross and it's the first time I get the "Basic" (guess it was an order error from the supplier). I wasn't aware that they do not carry headstamp on the "basic" brass..
Anyhow, I don't mind not having a headstamp, it's just quite unusual. Now I'm ready to use my .280 for special forces use on secret operations..
As a sidenote, I use some Frontier brass and it's good stuff, but I found that when applied to metric calibers, especially for the 6.5X55, they are like most other US manufacturers, means very minimal dimensions and loaded quite mild (for factory loads).

I recently was given some 44 magnum Leverevolution ammo, I dont own a lever action rifle so I decided to burn it off in my revolver, it did fine and I had no difficulty ejecting the spent casings. After I threw them in the tumbler, and then tried to resize it, I had a hell of a time.
I have carbide dies and am not used to having to use that much force to resize the cases. I found that if I heated them up a bit with my heatgun they sized a little easier, but I also found that the COL was a bit short.
Does anyone know why this is? Is Hornady brass just harder, or was this designed specifically for the Lever action 44's? I was intending on reloading these with 240gr XTP's.

X2 for Starline brass. Equal quality to ww and rp from my experience. Good $$ compared to the name brands.
The reason I started this thread is because I have fired some leverevolution in my 45/70 and have some brass. I have lots of Win brass already but do not want to load it or sell it till I find more about it. One of the lads at Custom Reloading mentioned that all Hornady brass is a bit short. The 45/70 is about an eighth of an inch shorter than my Win brass. Considering the length of the case I do not see a problem. More to get info than anything else. Yes I know about Starline and all the other brands. The question was specifically targeted at the Hornady. Some tell me its the best and some say not so. Mixed bag it seems.
I am slowly replacing all my win cases for my premium load in 308 208 Match with Hornady cases, i find them to be of very good quality and they do stretch a lot less than the win, accuracy wise no shift in POI were noticed and the primer pocket are very thigh, a natural for uniformity, the Lapua are the best but the lack of roominess dont permit me to get my 2600fps+ with them, the cases you get from their Superformance ammo is really of quality...
