Hornady Lock N' Load progressive

twoshots

It says that it can take 8-10 weeks for delivery for the free bullets. I'm hoping the send them also. It guess its only 22 bucks US to give it a try.

So where can I get a powder cop? I will need some shell plates and bushings as well.

I have up til now been using a Lee 1000 with 3 stations. What are you people using in each station? If you could provide the order they are in I'd appreciate it. I plan on using my Lee dies and am curious about the expander as it is the powder drop on the Lee.

What a press, I have a rockchucker as well and it certainly compares to that in a progressive. The Lee worked OK when you got the hang of it but this press seems to be the cadillac.

1) size/deprime 2) powder/expander (get the Hornady powder through expanders (part numbers 290040-290048 depending on caliber) 3) powder check (http://www.rcbs.com/downloads/instructions/Powder_Check_Instructions.pdf) 4) bullet seat 5) crimp

Or you could dump the powder check and use any expander die. Or you could seat/crimp in the same operation and use any expander die.

Thanks acrashb for that info!

I'm having a hard time finding Hornady expanders and other parts as everything is backordered everywhere. I have this beautiful press and can't use it .

Anyone seen parts on a shelf or had some delivered?

unfortunatley I had to go to Cabelas in the states as everywhere in Canada that can get one was back ordered. Cabelas was backordered as wel but came in 3 weeks from order date. No hassles what so ever. The price was reasonable also.

I've checked this out. For the L-N-L with case feeder less the value of 1000 45 ACP JSWC, if this thing is any better than a complete POS its gotta be a great deal. I'll soon find out,,;).

I'm not sure about the case feeder as I didn't get it but the press itself is incredible. It is built sturdy and tight. I haven't loaded with it yet because I was too stupid to get the shell plates at the same time. I would also look at the powder thru expanders at the same time as well.

Your right the 1000 bullets for 21.95 US shipping is a big plus.

Just go buy it:D

Ordering from factory

I was just in touch with the factory yesterday and it appears that the u/s stocking dealers and distributors have beaten us to the punch , they have even changed the info on their website to the effect of if you want it you will have to contact a stocking dealer as they are now several months behind in backorders alone on presses . I beleive that they are still selling small parts and accesories , dies , measures and sutch . the lady that I spoke with made it sound at though there was a fairly serius upswing in loading interest !

Corney, I haven't ordered the powder through expander, see link:

http://video.google.com/videosearch...video_result_group&resnum=7&ct=title&start=10

I plan on depriming and sizing, in a separate operation, before cleaning my brass using 1mm ceramic media. This extra step cleans the primer pockets too and will free up a die position on the L&L AP making the powder through expander unnecessary. This pedantry costs $ and efficiency but I feel clean primer pockets are easier on the priming gear as clean brass is on everything, and helps with reliability. This may be debatable but I'm not looking for opinions ;).

Thats a great link, some great info.

As for the powder through expanders I need a way to expand as I don't have an expander die and I believe it would be cheaper to go that route(I am cheap:D)

I don't know what pedantry mean:redface:

As far as debating you method it ain't my bidness which way you go. You do whatever floats yor boat!

So I'm not having any luck buying accessories for my LNL AP at all.

I have contacted everyone I can think off and don't seem to be getting anywhere. Hornady says parts from them are back ordered 4-6 months. Suggest I go to a distrbutor with parts in stock.

I can't find one of those. Anybody know of one?

thanks

They do ship to Canada but it looks like they've started to charge the customer a huge export fee of $275. I guess they're just passing the extra fees from the DOS straight on to us. It's a shame really.

Gee Mercury, just since your post # 34 (just now) I ordered a RCBS lockout die from em. Doesn't seem to be a problem and certainly no $275.00 fee ??????

Ahh, now I've found it:

All international orders must be faxed to us with signature!
We cannot ship liquids or aerosols except in pallet quantities by ocean freight only. Barrels, bullets, brass, powders, primers, ammunition, muzzleloaders, air guns and frames are all regulated by United States export laws. There may also be other regulated merchandise in your country. All of these items require an import license from your country and we must also apply for a license to export to you. All import and export license must have exact information (in English) and a minimum of $300.00 USD for us to apply for an export license. There is a $275.00 USD fee for each export license issued.

My die isn't on the above list of regulated products so maybe I'm ok. I'll find out tomorrow.

Well that's good news. I checked out their "international orders" page and that's what it said. I suppose if the order is small (less than $100?!?) then it doesn't need permits. Maybe certain items don't need permits either. I guess the OP will have to email them and double check.

First of all, sorry DeRK for so blatantly hijacking your thread with this. I just want to finish what I started.

I just got off the phone with Midsouth Shooting Supply. The order I placed using their website last night, is going through their system no problem. No FAX is required and no $275.00 fee. It was all done and dusted when I placed my order on their site using my C card. I'm happy :D, the RCBS lockout die is another rare item it seems.

Gosh, I hope the missus appreciates all the nice reloading gear I've bought her for our anniversary :).

I believe I owe DeRK an apology as well for the hijack. As always I get carried away. I do appreciate that info as I am getting more frustrated all the time.

I have this beautiful press that I can't use. I spent my whole allowance and I am not having any fun.:(
