Hornady Match brass?

I believe the OP may have run into some of the Hornady Match factory loaded ammunition, or maybe has some once fired cases.

I've seen some factory "Match" cartridges loaded by Hornady, and there appears to be a bit of a crimp on the primer pocket.

Nothing as drastic as what we see on surplus ammunition, but a slight indentation all around the primer pocket. Maybe from an oversize ram?
This isn't the first time I've seen people ask this about Hornady Match cases.

NO match brass or brass sold for reloading will have a crimp. Primer crimps are made after the primer is installed.
This is once fired match brass from factory loadings. Sorry I didn’t explain that well enough. He bought ammo of the shelf and is now learning to reload. He says he is having issues seating primers on the 7PRC versus the 6.5. I haven’t physically seen the brass but everything he is saying tells me it might have a slight crimp he is fighting.

I have some brass from factory Hornady Match .308 Win, they have a ring imprint around the primer like you say. I haven't deprimed them yet to confirm if it’s a crimp or not.

Primer Seating Difficult? how? they fit or they don't
Seating Enough? how deep? are they flush or more? no protrusion?

Aside from that, no primer issue should keep a cartridge from fitting a chamber

Are the brass full-length resized?

Give the primer pocket a mild clean up with an inside mouth chamfer tool, all that is needed for a mild crimp.
Lots of online issues with factory 7prc from Hornady being too hot and blowing primers...that was probably their fix lol

I have not visited to verify anything. He’s telling me he has full length resized and they will chamber with no issue, but when he tries to put a primer in the act of putting the primer in is very difficult and he can’t get the bolt to close. He has zero issues when he makes his 6.5 PRC. I told him it has to be the primer pocket needs to be uniformed or there must be a crimp from factory that needs to be removed.

I will go over to visit him and see. It’s been snowing here for two weeks and don’t feel like travelling out to see him. Just thought I would ask if the factory Hornady match has a crimp or not. I don’t shoot it,

6.5 Creedmoor Hornady Precision Hunter on the left. .308 Win Hornady Match on the right.

I just deprived a bunch of the .308 Win. The resistance didn’t feel like it was crimped.
