I just bought a Glock 17 Gen 4 from Tragetsport Canada. Today, I down the range and try to shotting. But it was jam, jam jamed all the time. Even after more than 200 rounds! It was jamed 3-5 times each mag. Failure to extract, failure to feed, failure to lock back on last round on 3 different brands with all 3 mags. I have check the recoil spring. It is new model that "0,1,2" number on the bottom.

Guys, have you never...ever had this problem. Any idea's on that?????

Brand new Glock17 Gen4 = Jam city???

Thanks. Anyone can help me. I would like to get some beer for you in Toronto.

My Glock 17 Gen 4 has not jammed in over 3500 rounds this year. You must have a serious issue. Hope you can get it resolved cause that does not sound like much fun at all!!!

Good Luck

But I uesd both hands to hold the pistol.

It doesn't matter. Your response tells me that you are new to handguns or at least the G17.

Get someone with some experience with Glocks to shoot it and you will know for sure.

Lot's of noobs have this issue when I bring em out to the range. They can shoot others well but the G17 will tell who is lim wristing for sure.

Don't feel too bad. It's an easy fix if this is indeed the case. :D

With it being a brand new gun that recoil spring is going to be very stiff as well, so it will be worse in the beginning.

Check your extractor and ensure there is nothing broken or bent or anything stuck behind it. Check your ejector and ensure its in fine shape.

The limp wristing aspect is very important especially with the low recoil of the 9mm. Your strong hand (arm) must be locked out and wrist locked as well.

Make a fist, raise your arm as if your pointing at something in front of you like you mean it. Your wrist, forearm, upper arm and shoulder should be one solid platform. This will force the action of the pistol to blow straight back. If the pistol looks like it should and no mechanical issues, your shooting platform will be the main issue. If you lock everything out, your not going to have any issues. I like the weaver stance for this, as it brings the strong arm (shooting arm) back and your support hand - arm and shoulder is slightly forward. Hopfully this makes some sense.

my guess would be, same as mlehtovaara mentioned, that you dont have a proper grip, you probably dont want to have a stronger grip on the gun to avoid a flinch and to be more accurate(;)), but you have to have a strong rip on a gun, kinda like men you swing a hammer, you dont really death grip it but have full control of it. regarding flinching, you should get some snap caps, and ask other to fill your mags for you on the range randomly with ammo and caps, or u can just dry fire your glock while applying grip as it was loaded, you can put a empty casing on top slide closer to the muzzle and make sure it doesn't drop when you pull the trigger while while having a full grip on it

here there some good tips here by Tod Jarrett, they should also help

It's also pretty possible you got one of the Gen 4 dogs...I would see if you can get your hands on a known good G17 and run a hundred rounds through it. If you have lots of stoppages on a known good gun, the problem is you.

If not, you got one of the Gen 4s with major issues and I would send it back.

Glock has still not got the recoil spring issues on the Gen 4s sorted out, and in many cases the new Gen 4 MIM extractor seems to be generating stoppages. So try a Glock that runs, and see if you have issues, or your gun has issues.

A friend and I went to the range a few weeks ago and he was having the same problem with his and it turn out to be that he remove the pin in the back of the grip and everything was lose inside,it made for a long day.it gave me a chance to tell him how great my H&K is.

like said above, some of the first 17's had heavy springs in them which caused these problems. you may want to find out from the dealer how long this glock was sitting on the shelf, it may not have the new ones in it. I believe glock will send you a new set, no charge.

Are you familiar with detail stripping of the 17? If not, find someone to verify the extractor moves freely in the frame. It should drop out of the slide when spring tension is released. "Clean it up" to allow free movement. Call Glock. My 17 will "double feed" on occasion. I called Glock and they are sending the latest 0 2 4 recoil spring assembly.

Before you start changing parts, have someone else shoot the pistol, hopefully with some experience. Its sounds like you are "limp wristing" it, and it can happen using 2 hands. If another shooter gets the same stoppages then it sounds like it could be the pistol itself.

It's hard to give any plausible advice without looking at the firearm.
I would have to go against limp wristing as it sounds like you've shot before and even with limping...with the amount of failures you're getting...that's over the top even for limp wristing.
I couldn't simulate that with my G17...must be extractor/ejector/ or something binding with slide like the frame rail inserts.
Have someone with some experience have a quick inspection of it...you might have over looked something simple and right in front of you.

ummm, limp wrist unlikely...onless this guy is holding the gun waaay to soft...i mean 3 times a mag and various stoppages is ridicolous....i tried a gen 4 glock 9mm with 115 grain white box ammo and i purpously limp wristed it, and it failed to eject and stovepiped every round...but it worked fine and flawlessly when shooting normally...would love to shoot the gun n c what the issue is...i am slowly loosing faith in the glock brand....with the gen 3 and gen 2 various glocks i had, they were all flawless, worked perfectly out of the box and thru all sorts of ammo

A Glock17 that doesn't go bang? Sounds like a bad one out of the box.

A normal one: don't clean it ever, store it in the fish tank, shoot any brand of ammo, smack it on the ground between shots, use your middle finger to pull the trigger, shoot sideways like a gangster mental midget: It will still fire everytime.

Even the space shuttle fails every few hundred launches, maybe you just got an improperly assembled unit, or a broken part.

Take it back to Target Sport, there is a range on site... lets them try.
I had problem with my GL14 gen 3, not as bad as yours but it was FTE sometimes.
I took the slide apart, clean it, assembled back and never had that problem again.
