Eagleye, you're just not abusing them correctly !!! If you put way more powder in them cases and set the triggers down to .0001" sear engagement, you can consistantly reproduce all the above flaws, including knock the handle off with a good rap (I've never been able to reproduce this one). You do have to pay attention when you pry the case off the bolt face to get the correct orientation to rip the extractor off. You will notice that the ejector plunger is now stuck in the hole too.
vviking, I just guess I'm sh!thouse lucky 'cause before I had all this new found knowledge, I just went out and shot everything with my 700s and never knew what danger I was in. I have shot all sorts of nasty, bities without the slightest notion I was tempting death, each and every time!! Not to mention all those once-in-a-lifetime trophies that should have gotten away due to rifle failure. I'm with Eagleye, I'm selling all my Rems, before they get me killed and buying mossbergs or salvages or maybe stevens. I'll have to do a bunch more research and get some good advice from the guys on here, for sure!!
Yes, to fully appreciate the Remington 700 experience, you must play by the rules! Oh by the way, here's a loading tip . . . conventional powders are such a nuisance because they bulk out so quickly, so whenever you see H-4831, just substitute an equal amount of SR-4759, in fact you don't even need to weigh it, just dip the case into the powder then bump out enough to make room for the bullet. This will speed up the loading process and add much more to your Remington experience.
Hey Doug, when you start to sell off all that junk, I'd appreciate first refusal on the M-7 .350 mag! If I found an fully experienced Savage 340, we could trade straight across, I wouldn't even expect you to top off the deal with extra cash. Whatya say pal, is that a deal or what?
