Just curious how those that were successful in filling their tags did it, if your chose "other" feel free to explain. Choose more than 1 if necessary. I filled mine by sitting up against a tree, I didn'y have enough time to make it into my stand so I choose to sit on the edge of a field. The doe knew something was odd but staying still and getting lucky with the swirling wind meant she eventually walked broadside 20 yards out in the field and the crossbow did its job.

- Out checking cows and a nice doe walked out - tag filled
- Out closing gates and getting my trail cam cards, nice buck walks out and down the field - tag filled

I guided my kids to theirs and took the deer season off myself. They aren't a great deal of help except for rapidly takeing over the cooking chores, but do let me help eat them.

I got mine opening morning using the Ol waiting against a tree method. I had seen a ton of deer there while scouting, so it was pretty easy. Good thing, too, because later on that day and evening the whole area was swamped with Truck hunters, who had both windows down in their vehicles, ready to blast whatever moved out their windows. I am surprised that is not an option in the poll, as that seems to be pretty common in Alberta(I bet noone will admit to it!)

... the traditional Saskatchewan method of asking the farmer, then driving the fields with him scouting and telling stories. Look to see what is out of the woods, then pick the one you like (as long as the land isn't posted). Two hunters tagged out by the end of the second day.

Wife got one nice buck from a tree stand and a decent doe from a ground blind.
I got one doe from a ground blind, one on a "drive the truck to the tree stand, see a doe, get out of truck, spot and stalk", and one on "the ol' lean against a tree and wait for it" trick.
Nice season actually.

Still hunting implies slowly moving through an area to see what you can kick up and get a shot at. Stalking is when you spot an animal and watch it bed, then make your move while it sleeps..

I just still hunted through a cut block witch had grown up just the right amount to be prime for feeding after the snow hit. I was determined to take 2 deer with my double rifle one for each bbl. I came upon a herd of 5 whitetails feeding so I hit one with the right bbl at 50 yards, dropping it on the spot. At the shot the rest of the deer scattered a bit but did not know exactly what happened. A fawn turned quartering away at 75 yards and I hit it with the left bbl, dropping it within 10 yards. About 4 seconds between shots. Dam I always wanted to do that and with the open sights too. It was perfect.
