I double-lunged a nice drop-tined buck(12-pt) at 280 yards from one of my shooting shacks.
Head shot a big doe at 75 yards from another shooting shack .
Never did fill my third tag .

Both the ol' stand and wait beside a tree method (4x4) and spot and stalk method (muzzleloader, doe). I usually set up in the morning by an active trail near a bedding area and then if no action do some spot and stalk after lunch.

This year the ol' stand and wait was a much more productive as I saw 2 bucks and 2 does come down various trails near where I was set up. The spot and stalk worked too only I had some bad luck and got (take your choice) winded, spotted, heard, spooked somehow before I could get a clean shot. Except during muzzleloader when the deer are less alert. Even then I had some bad luck when I missed a doe point blank when the bullet (and I kid you not) fell out of the sabot as I raised my muzzleloader to my shoulder.

Both with muzzle loader in Oct. Still hunting along the edge of an alfalfa field in the late afternoon with heavy brush cover along the edge of the field. There is also an irrigation ditch along the edge of the field so I can crouch and crawl along without being seen by any deer that are out feeding in the field. I have shot many deer in that field.

R of A,

That is awesome. A right and a left. Nice shooting.

I shot my whitetail standing at 320 yards with my .303. I went retro this last season.

80-90 shot at a doe with the 30-06 tipped over DOA. 20 yard shot at a doe with the excalibur xbow, not DOA but recovered 100 yards away. Both from ground blind.

Stalked mine in a coulee, shot him at about 80 yards with my 270 WSM T-3.

that is a helluva nice mulie, congrats!!

i voted other :)
I was working..... very hard...... and i had to tst some rifles prior to shipping them out to clients. Seen as I live in an area with crownland and forestry cutblocks all ovr the place, my target range is not too far away. Had rifle #3 of the 5 i was to test that morning and dspite the gunfire for the hour i was there up to that point, a bunch of deer wandered by at about 100 yards. Seen as I had an m14 in my hand (client's rifle) and a mag of hunting ammo in my pocket.... you can pretty much surmise what happened when i lined up the irons on a nice younger buck at a little over 100 yrds.
got squat from my stand location, this year was tough compared to past years but mostly due to my schedule. gettin cranked up for some yotes and itchin for spring bear season ;)

Driving between where we spent the morning, to where we were going to spend the evening and there were two little bucks eating in a cut line a couple hundred yards up. I hopped up, worked in closer, and shot the one that was a better angle.

So, technically, I guess, Truck Hunting, this year! :D Delicious, delicious, truck hunted venison!

Cheers
Trev

Sitting with my back to a tree. Three point mule at 70 yards. This one and the two last year would all have been within 100 yards . . . think I will go back there next year too.
