How do CZ rifles compare?

Probably depends what you have gotten used to - the safety lever on most of them used to be "backwards" - pull towards you to fire - push away to be "on safe" - as per Phil Shoemaker - "somebody gonna get killed by that, one day".

455/457/527/550 yes 557 and 600 no.

^^^ this for me as well

CZ did everyone a disservice with the 600, especially when their lawyers figured out the 'changeable barrels/calibers' might get someone hurt and they nixed the idea - only a gunsmith can do it now. That was the whole idea of the all in one type rifle which they pushed the 600 as.

I have 2 x 455 and a 527. Great rifles.

Yea I never even got close to buying a 600, trail is about the only one I’d consider… 557 was going to be my hunting rifle but it’s so dang heavy and I ended up with several m96/m98.. I was also frustrated with the lack of aftermarket parts for the 557.. my 527 is beautiful and I’d buy ever calibre option they come in if I could afford it 😅

The 557 handled like a pig for me too. Bulky/fat/heavy.

Nice action! Smooth. Great trigger just not for me

CZ rifles are more prominent in the USA. They have an excellent and long history of producing very high quality firearms. The 600 saga is just that. The concept and execution of the interchangeable barrel system was actually very well done. However, as it happened, after a freak accident with an employee in the factory, they decided to not take the chance of future litigations and make the swap feature only available through a gun smith.
I wanted a new hunting rifle aside from the Remington and Savage I use. I handled about 7 rifles at my local shop before walking out with the CZ 600 Alpha in a 30-06. The feel and features seemed to match my hunting style. I’m looking forward to the season.

If I was contemplating the Ruger Ranch Gen2 in 762x39 or the CZ Alpha 600 in 762x39, which would be the better choice? They both seem to have good reviews.

If I was buying a bolt action in 7.62x39, it would be a CZ...but a 527, not a 600. No first-hand experience with the 600 but all kinds with 527s. Punchy caliber in a bolt action, I'd only ever shot x39 out of an SKS. Never knew it actually had appreciable recoil!

I ended up purchasing a RUGER Ranch 2, just got delivered today, haven’t even unpacked it yet. The CZ ones were very tempting but availability ended up winning me over.

That’s a great rifle as well, I hear good things. You’ll have to let us know how you like it.

please let us know what you think of the mag. It’s too bad they didn’t go with a more common type

I’ve handled the 600… handles nice. I’ve owned a 527, 550 and still own a 455. I currently own the precursors to the 550. 2 Brno 600 series in 30-06 with the peeps and a 375 H&H with the 3 leaf express sights. As well, I also a run a BRNO ZG47 in 8x64s. They are all incredible hunting rifles. Plenty accurate for hunting and all handle like very nicely.

I’ve also owned a BRNO ZH 305 combo which shot very well and to same point of impact. Sold it when I went with a Valmet 412 instead. I bit more refined in my books.

Personally, I’d pick up a real steel and wood gun with some character. Loads of BRNO 600s around in very nice shape.

CZ/Brno are generally very good in my books.

I don't know how good my review will be, I'm fairly new to firearm ownership and just now getting into some differences to compare. That being said, upon initial inspection everything looks ok and clip in well. I want to buy a couple of spares but don't know where to look or what is even available.

I'm curious to know what people wanted to see for a magazine on this rifle and what the common type might be?

I have a CZ .22 magnum - NICE. My other CZ's have been a 75 and an 85, but they're handguns. GOOD handguns, made outta steel. Most CZ stuff is pretty good.
